Wanna know how to get into an Ivy League as a engineer, pre-med, fine arts or transfer student?
My friends and I will be talking about our Cornell applications, ft. 2s on AP exams, 4.0 GPA, 1310 SAT, 3 publications, research / internships, art portfolio, and admissions interview! And stay around for the end, where we will be giving y'all some (hopefully helpful) general advice on how to write better essays and other college app tips!!

This was really helpful. I'm doing the IB and am a junior right between the 3rd and 4th term right now. I loved how realistic you guys were. I'm planning applying to Brown and Yale as my top choices but cornell sounds very nice too. I don't have much activities but I will try more from now on!!

Hi. Do you know if i can get into brown and princeton? I go to a school that does competency based narrative grades. I'm supposed to be graduating by June of next year. Also I have lots of extracurriculars that are very unique and not so common. Like I'm on the envirothon team, am on the student leadership team, I did a summer trauma program at new york Presbyterian, and also am doing a summer neuroscience research program at rockefeller university. Additionally, for my junior year I'm doing a college algebra course at my school in association with howard university, a college environmental science course in association with UCSD, and this summer I'm taking hunter college now classes.

Sounds like you are very active, which is awesome! I think what's most important is how to present yourself and all these extracurriculars throughout your application. You seem very passionate about research and the medical field, so I recommend that you really emphasize this interest and tie it into your previous experiences and future goals. While I can't predict for sure whether you will get into these schools or not, you seem very hardworking, and I hope the admissions officers see that too!

HI CANDY as of now I am just so stressed as a junior as i didn’t prepare for anything for the past two years. I didn’t even thought about going to top schools like Cornell but now as I dive deep into the Cornell’s culture I just felt like this school is for me 😭😭also the ppl, the views, the foods are all soso incredible. I went to visit Cornell in October and just felt in love with the campus. I am so jealous of some of the people I know (shengqi that is also in CoE) that goes there. Do u think that it is too late to ready now? I thought my chances would be pretty low since I only have like 5 activity 😢 I will still try to apply for ed not expecting anything tho just to fulfill my dream of applying there

I don't think it's too late because even though you said you only have 5 activities, I think colleges focus more on quality rather than quantity, so it really depends on how you write about these activities. Your essays are also going to be super important, so I think that as long as you start early, work hard, and let your passion shine through, you're gonna be fine!

hey! i know i am just a random commenter, but as a senior basically wrapping up with my college application process, i would like to add on to candy's comment on how it's not too late. the majority of my more "impressive" activities were obtained late junior yr or the summer I was turning into an incoming senior. it wasn't until around this time frame that i discovered what i wanted pursue, so totally do not feel like you're "too late" or anything like that. i get your stress, super reasonable since that was me literally last semester. hope everything works out and make sure to work on essays early (even brainstorming on a doc works wonders)!

@@damarisa.8339 yeahh! i didn’t apply to any of the ivies since i thought wanted to stay in state as a california resident (though i kinda regret it haha) i got into all the UCs but will probably commit to Berkeley since I received their regents’ scholarship (unless UCLA gives me an affordable financial aid pckg since i like that school more lol) as for privates, i only applied to USC RD, and i also got in but seriously, it’s never too late, and if anything, i think essays rlly carry everyone far into the college app process

I think the admissions officers look at your classes and activities from freshman year to senior fall, so it's not too late to turn things around! Also, if you did well your underclassmen years, I think that'll definitely help. If you had like extenuating circumstances in your junior year, there is a place on the Common App where you can talk about it and how it impacted your studies/involvements!
