Sunflower seeds are a great source of plant protein and healthy fat. And that translates to energy for your body! Zac loves sunflower seeds and we have the ability to now grow our own. It's time to harvest our seeds and get them processed for storage during the winter.

J C that’s funny because I’m from TX and didn’t even notice. 😝 We don’t see guns as killers only people. Just another tool. Snakes in fall are looking for places to hibernate. They love gardens because of field rats and bunnies.

Fibonacci is all around us. Well, the golden ratio is, which the Fibonacci sequence approximates. Sunflowers, pine cones, nautilus shells, spiral galaxies (like our own), the list is huge. A very simple concept about breeding rabbits, with profound implications.

A good way to check for worms is to put the seeds in a bucket of water. The ones that sink are good to eat or plant, and the ones that float are either sterile or have worms in them. Thanks for the great video!
@PeterSedesse
@PeterSedesse 6 жыл бұрын
Yep, I was just going to post the same thing. It is a good idea to soak the seeds in twice as much water. Not only do the worm-infested seeds float but a lot of other stuff like bugs will float too.

You can use the small seeds for growing micro greens. I have an old baking pan that I add about an inch of soil then a layer in the seeds followed by another inch of soil. In about two weeks they are ready to trim and add to salads, burgers, and such.

I dry the entire flower with seeds intact and place one dried flower per week in the chicken coop. The chickens to a wonderful job of picking the seeds off the flower head and keeps them from getting bored while penned up when their not free-range. Question: Are you planning a solar food dryer for dehydrating sliced veggies for next year as an option for food storage?
