As an early education public school teacher (K-2), I am SO glad to see this healthy view of preschool. There are Kindergarten teachers who think kids need certain things before coming to K, but it can actually do more damage than good! We spend a lot of time "unteaching" kids who learned upper case letters (most of the letters you read are lower case). Honestly, the best thing you can do with kids is work with phonemes without letters (Another thing we "unteach" is the idea that letters "say" things. Sing, rhyme, clap, decide if there are enough cookies for everyone, listen to sounds in the world, talk to your kids! I get a lot of pressure from parents to have kids reading "early", but please let your kids be kids!

❤️ My boys when they're preschooled aged wanted nothing to do with "school", so we did a lot of play learning. My girls on the other hand wanted to learn to read right away, write, color, and would play school. When applying for a job the application doesn't ask what age you learned to read nor what preschool you went to 😂 Early learning should be fun!

As a first time mom of a toddler, this has been so very validating! It’s just her and I during the day so I really don’t have a choice but to include her in everything I’m doing and she is learning so much! I would love to see a video of you with your toddlers and how you “teach them through life”. This stuff absolutely feeds my little mama soul ❤️

Yes, where I live school is obligatory for every child for 9 years (most kids do go longer though obvl). It's to ensure that every child has the chance to get at least a basic level of independent education.

Can I just say that I love how open-mindedly and non-judgementally you address more hot-button parenting topics? People tend to learn hard into one way or another for certain subjects, and you have a really lovely way of making clear what you felt was right for your family, without damning other perspectives as the wrong/unenlightened way.

I'm a SAH mommy of 2. (2 yo going on 3 soon and 9 month old) been doing tons of research and praying , just trying to figure this thing out and what to do in my day to day with my littles. My almost 3 year old is showing interest (and without my help lol already knows so much, and speaks/understands so well it blows my mind ). You my sister, have LITERALLY just helped to set me free in soo many ways. I have been following you for a while and I am so grateful for your wisdom/content and this video right here. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING BACK and helping those behind you and new to this journey, find our way. WE truly are doing this thing all together and need each other. This community of homeschooling is rapidly growing ( the way the world is heading), and we NEED these types of resources and channels so that we can ALL thrive and help those behind us. THIS IS TRULY leaving legacy . God bless you!!

In highschool I was so wrapped up in sports and boys, I honestly couldn't tell you what my favorite subject was then. College however, I took accounting classes that I truly and thoroughly enjoyed. This *really* surprised me considering my major was fashion merchandising and I was also terrible with money. 😂 But now being a SAHM, I love everything there is to do with finances, budgeting, investing, etc. I can't get enough and our family is working on financial freedom.

When you spoke about Shelby's curriculum and school plans I was overjoyed to hear that she has so much autonomy and a sense of agency in what she is learning. The addition of the online classes was a fantastic idea to expose her to different modalities of the teaching-learning process. The twins kind of have a similar style and approach to their education, just at a much more age appropriate level. Enjoyed the video so much! Also, in 8th grade I really liked "The Clockwork Angel" series by Cassandra Claire, maybe Kennedy and Shelby will too!

Just started doing Good and the Beautiful pre-K with my 3.5 year old daughter. I'm letting her guide me on how much we do each day and how many days a week we do it. Somet days we do a whole lesson, other days only part of a lesson, and some days no lesson at all. I think it's good practice for both of us to do our toes in the homeschool waters. I would have to say my favorite subject in school was geography. It’s so fun to see my oldest starting to recognize where places are on a map and we discuss the places he’s interested in- language, culture, foods, etc. he’s loving it and it’s so fun for me too!

I loved typing. I felt super confident in it and loved the program we had because of all of the rewards.

I really loved hearing your heart on this. I feel like I don't take enough time to enjoy my toddlers either so I felt like you were speaking right to me. Thank you! I absolutely loved chemistry both in high school and in college. But I also had a wonderful French teacher and a great English teacher in high school and loved those subjects because of them!

My favorite subject in school was science. I went on to nursing but I realized that I wanted to work on the computer working with vintage photos during restorations plus creating fun worksheets for my kids to color and work on. Thanks so much for the awesome giveaways!

I always look forward to your homeschool week! Thank you for doing them in July this year! We follow the same style of learning in our family as well. I started out with such strict ridge style when my oldest, now 10, was first starting school. Now 3 kids later we are much more relaxed and attuned to their learning styles and paces. Math was my absolute favorite subject in school!!

I needed this video. My first child goes to preschool next month and I’ve felt this sudden stress- should i be preparing him more by working on tracing or days of the week… but your video helped me to see letting him live life alongside me and explaining unknown topics as they come or as the landslide of questions are asked is better for me and for him too. Thank you so much for the wisdom.

My favorite subject was English and also Speech class. ☺️ I have found a lot of value in introducing school gently in the little years.

The US school system is failing miserably. I can't imagine not having the freedom to homeschool.

@@dannil9878 the fact that one 1/4 of graduating high schoolers are functionally illiterate for starters. There are several school districts in which they can't find one single child who is reading or doing math at grade level. They are focused on indoctrinating children into gender ideology and racism

My favorite subject in school really varied by the teacher teaching it. Consistently though, over the years, I'd have to say that art, science, and history were my top subjects.
