That water maker boost pump relay looks a little under-sized maybe?? Motors are inductive loads which means they are harder on the relay contacts than for example a solid-state relay. Every time the relay opens (shuts off) the inductive load will spike the voltage way up and cause an arc to form across the relay contacts. This is what burns them out. You might look into using a solid-state relay instead of that mechanical one. They are rated for non-resistive loads (ie. inductive loads) and there is no mechanical element to arc and fail.

Great job diagnosing and fixing the water maker Bill. Grace maybe those Mantas jump to attract food since the Pelicans are almost as opportunistic as Sea Gulls always looking for the easy meal. Fried fish is number 1 having boat buddies over is best.

Another great video guys! One slight correction... The fish that BIll shot at and missed was not a hogfish. I'm pretty certain it was a large humphead parrot fish. Either way, both are great eating fish although I couldn't shoot a parrot fish because of the fond memories I have of them when I had my saltwater aquarium.
@CalicoSkiesSailing
@CalicoSkiesSailing 10 ай бұрын
Thanks! I think it's a Mexican Hog Fish, we also don't eat Parrotfish bc they are so good for the reefs! 😃
@montea.7436
@montea.7436 10 ай бұрын
@CalicoSkiesSailing Me thinks if you google humphead parrot fish you'll find photos of the fish and it looks exactly like the one in your video, albeit with a bit smaller hump... "Mexican Hog Fish"? Is there such a thing? All good... I agree parrot fish are good for the reefs... Edited... A couple of reasons I'm sure it's a parrot fish is one, the shape of the mouth and two, the color. I googled "Mexican Hog Fish" and found numerous photos and none looked like the one in your video.. in fact, this it what was said about the color of the "Mexican Hog Fish"... "Females are usually reddish in color and tinged with yellow with two dark stripes. Dominant males are identified by the fleshy lumps on their heads, their coloration is grayish tinged with red and with a yellow bar near the mid section. The tips of all fins except the pectoral are long and filamentous."

Perfect length, just shy of thirty minutes! : - ) After watching, I would say this episode had a nice balance. Boat project, social time, animal(s) time, bad and good weather time and underwater time! : - ) BTW - In 30,000 years those rays will be able to sustain flight in the air just like they now fly through the water. (maybe) They are now doing try-outs for evolution! And with those thunder storms being around again at the end I was worried when, at 28:30, Bill was posing in the (soon to be) stormy night with one hand wrapped around a metal cable that connects to a very tall metal pole. 8 - \ Hahaha Perhaps he was there to "arrest" the lightening? 8 - (

Took me a minute to finish this week's episode, I had to pause it half way through to catch the Delos vs Parlay race with the live chat and a full live chat following... Watching dolphins or whales breach, there's something about it that seems graceful, but those rays, they come out of the water looking good, then it looks a bit awkward when the belly flop back into the water, exciting to watch despite the awkward landing...

Your videos are just so peaceful in a chaotic world. I can just connect to nature without all of the noise. That fresh fish looked yummy😊. Boat Projects😮 never stop. The Anchorages are amazing. So what do you prefer Sea of Cortez, San Blas or that Frog Marina? Blessings to you both. Looking forward to your B.C. footage.

100% off grid? BS. you are very plugged into a grid of weather, navagation, and communications information. .

The common notion of off grid is being off public utilities - electricity, water, sewer, gas. Your notion of it including the internet is new one for me. Maybe you include phone signals too. Other interpretations pop up too. It's interesting to see how far some people take it.
