@@micah2426 for low budget films? Yes. But cgi can and will always enhance movie immersion and overall experience. Im gonna give you a few prime examples right now. Planet of the apes released in 1968, it looked like shit all the way up into our era until we fixed it with proper cgi. Same goes for star wars. Transformers? Blade runner? Tron? These are just the some of the best examples of cgi intensive movies that require the cgi. Many movies use little bits of cgi u dont even realize that completely changed the vibe of the scene. It does "usually" help the movie immensely.

Great "Making of", better than most I see for Hollywood films. And Turning Tide is fantastic as well with an impressive sense of time and place. My first comment was going to be how good your cg aerial battle turned out so I'm blown away to discover it was mostly hand puppeteered miniatures. Everything in the film was first rate from cinematography to costumes, sound and the score. It was a labor of love and that shows. Hope to see your names on a full feature film sometime soon!

Honestly the best visual FX are the ones they did as normal concealers or touch ups. Its the stuff you didn’t notice like windows, objects or drop in composites. Sound is hard especially for airplanes because the volume of the planes is often as loud as the machine gun fire. And in the air it shouldn’t be so distinct. It should have more space and distance from the cameras position to that of the sound source especially when dealing with high rates of speed like planes. Its a small but crucial detail.

This Short Movie is Brilliant.... looks every bit High Budget and Big Movie Studio produced. I was amazed by how polished yet POV throughout film. It looks and feels like WWII somewhere safe from Nazi Aircraft. David is about to have the adventure of his lifetime. Casting David was pure magic. His acting is so IRL that it doesn't look like acting at all. Very natural and nothing distracts from the story line. I first saw this short on Omeleto. It is fun to have a back stage pass as you share your perspective. Obviously someone got a good foundation in film school. But that is just a starting point. You took that and added your own blood, sweat, and tears. Bravo... well done.

These are the stories I love to see - couple of dedicated young film makers who have passion and enthusiasm, want to make real movies... location shoots, dealing with weather, in camera effects, miniatures but still clever use of modern digital effects too, like planning the model shoot and cleaning up the backgrounds. Some people just want to make whizz-bang big CGI effects movies, but with no real story. Have a great story like this one, and the effects don't need to be blockbuster, this has shown getting good results from different cheaper methods is still viable. Congratulations on a job well done!

Thank you for talking about the realities of filmmaking in this. I watch so many Behind the Scenes videos that glaze over the real difficulties like weather, picking up sound, getting actors and acttresses together for the shoot, and working through the slow burn of Visual Effects, really nailing the look of the effects you want instead of trying to find a poor VFX artist to do it all for you for cheap without really realizing how much work it is. It's nice to watch something more grounded in reality that isn't just trying to make itself look good for the sake of selling the film. These kind of projects are a lot of work and that should be acknowledged a bit more, especially by young, aspiring filmmakers who often give everything to filmmaking just to realize it may not be what they want to do for the rest of their lives.

absolutely incredible. You guys have satisfied a great dream. I myself attempted to produce a WWII short and was just so let down. Used me money to fund 1 day of production and we got abnormally weathered out. I was very happy with a couple seconds of the 3 minute film.

Will be watching the film asap. I have several WW2 projects on the back burner for years that just seem so out of reach, watching this just gave me hope.

Film is, by far, the hardest and most important form of art out there. This video shows that clearly. Unreal!!

@@mxs4193 Nah man, film required a vision, VFX, SFX, CGI, casting of others to deliver your ideal vision, and mise-en-scene. Film is, by far, the hardest and most important form of art out there.

@@mxs4193 film isn’t something you can do by yourself. Animation you can. Film requires you to share your vision and get a team to all work together to achieve the perfect vision of how the director/writer whats their story to be told
@mxs4193

@@xXtuscanator22Xx you have a very narrow view on this. You’re also cherry picking a lot. There are great films that can and have been made by one person. There are great animated films that would have been absolutely impossible to have been made by one person. So the “sharing the vision” argument completely falls apart. Are you really trying to tell me animation doesn’t require a vision, SFX, casting of others? From all of these aspects animation is basically the same as film. The place where it actually differs is the “rules” of the world. With film you are almost always restricted by the rules of our world. With animation you make the rules yourself. It can be completely normal for characters faces to twist in physically impossible ways for example, you can have anthropomorphic characters to help drive the plot and so on. This freedom doesn’t make things easier, quite the opposite- you have nothing to build on, just a blank screen... Because animation is unrestricted by laws of our universe you can tell so much more and (paradoxically) make it feel so much more believable.

@@mxs4193 no you’re not restricted by the rules of the world. Many great directors differ from the norm of film making and, if done right, their films are a true masterpiece. You have no idea what you’re talking about kid.

This looks so amazing and I think that it is great that these guys went the practical effects route. The results look as good, if not better, than a lot of the big budget movies. I am also so excited that you managed to have all of those musicians show up to add that extra level of emotion and movie magic. It makes me want to watch it as soon as possible and excited to see what you will do next. I just discovered this and have not watched it yet and have no doubt that I will enjoy watching it tonight. Thanks for all of your passion, imagination, and great work that you put into this. The world needs more artists/storytellers like you!
