The arrival of Supercar on television screens in 1961 heralded the dawn of a new era of action-packed and science-fuelled Supermarionation cult classics that would go on to include Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, and more. Gerry Anderson, Sylvia Anderson, and their team of artists and technicians on the Slough Trading Estate banded together the create a series the likes of which had never been seen and in the process achieved global success.
In this Making Of Documentary, directors, puppeteers, writers, and SFX experts reunite to explain the tricks of their trade.

About Me:
Century 21 Films Ltd is a multi-faceted production company whose work spans drama to documentary, miniature effects to puppet shows. It was founded by a group of filmmakers who first collaborated on Filmed in Supermarionation, the story of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's hit puppet shows including Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet.
Since then, we have worked for a multitude of high-profile clients including ITV, BBC, Mammoth Productions, British Film Institute and the Halifax working on projects such Thunderbirds, Endeavour, Doctor Who and The Twilight Zone.
In addition to our regular filmmaking services, we specialise in ‘Supermarionation’ - the puppetry filming technique used to make shows like Thunderbirds and have collaborated with ITV repeatedly to provide specialised services. Our work has been featured on The One Show, This Morning, Good Morning Britain, BBC News, ITV News and Mastermind.

Excellent to see these behind the scenes. As a kid watching these shows there was nothing better. I loved all Gerry Anderson's shows. 70 yrs old now and have gotten many of them on DVD. Great Television.

That was such a trip down memory lane for me! My sister had Pelham puppets of the crew of supercar and also had a Theatre set too and my mum painted a complete backdrop to the set with supercar in it and it was just lovely so we used to pretend to do our own shows! Thank you all for making my childhood and all the others back then too! R.I.P to those that have passed on! 😢

Wow, this is so nice to see the people behind the scenes!!! I'm 69 now but I remember super car!!! It was a fascinating program that I loved to see!!! What year were these interviews done?? How many of the crew are still around??? Thank you for sharing!!!

Buckinghamshire? ... Geography was NEVER my strong point, but I've always believed Slough was in Berkshire ... I checked with Alexa, and she confirms, Slough is in Berkshire! ... However, she does have a tendency to talk out of her USB Port! Slough's exact location aside, I'm glad I grew up in the 60's and 70's, when kids TV was exciting, and when it sparked imagination! ... And before computers and Smartphones took over! EDIT: I've been using and building computers for 27 years! ... But I dislike Smartphones and people's addiction to them! Although, I do have a Smartphone for "two factor authentication" and snaps and the like.
