Hey! Why not build up the walls of the well with another row or two of blocks. This will help the prevent the mud from flowing back into the well when you have heavy rains. Maybe even clear back more of the land back away and make a mini patio around it out or blocks, could be from recycle patio blocks.

Hello you guys, this is Nelson & Maureen. We started our home stead in Western Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. Regarding your 💦 well . Our advice is to go to Home Depot get a 300 gallon 300 dollars for tank for drinking water and a water pump from sams Club about 232 dollars, you will need 11/4 pipe . Very important get a 1 1/4 reverse valve , shutting valve additional pipe glue heavy pipe . WhatI truly like about the Sam’s club pump it will give you strong pressure for all you water needs at the same time has an expansion tank . Easy to in stall . You get a 3 stage whole house water filter and a zero water filter for you person drinking water 💦. Good luck if you need further assistance reach out to me , by responding to this message.

If you want to go uphill with the water without electricity you can make a gravity pump. Another channel (Nomadic Movement) made one going up a mountainside about 100 ft in Panama. Save energy and that way if you ever lose power due to storms/hurricanes your fresh water pump will still work. I'm sure you can look up the parts/plumbing you need online, love the new videos guys keep up the great work!! :)

Here in West Virginia what you have is called a "Spring Box". They were once a very common way to gather clean water for a homestead. Your challenge is going to be lifting the water to the top of the hill. The other challenge is going to be voltage drop over the length of electrical wire from the top of the hill. Big pump for the lift means big wire to feed the pump over the distance. If you don't have enough voltage at the pump it will overheat and die. Two ways to reduce voltage drop, either raise the voltage or use bigger wire.
@hectorcorniel3422

There's not problem with the voltage , voltage drop wouldn't be the big to prevent the pump to run.

Voltage drop at 200 feet is a concern. if he goes with 120 volts at 200 feet and has a 20 amp service at the pump he would need to use 6 AWG copper. if you don't do it properly he will have the world's biggest toaster.@@hectorcorniel3422

Matt - I think you need a cistern (holding tank) at the elevation you will use the water. The pump at the spring will lift the water slowly to fill the cistern. You then have a pump at the cistern that turns on when you open the tap / switch on the washing machine etc. Your RV will have that sort of system. My boat does. Your house, when you build it, will need the same. You can then draw the water at the rate you need it, not at the rate of the pump lifting water 60 feet up. Or, you have a cistern above ground level and gravity delivers your water pressure at the point of use. For the rise, in freedom units, the pump with a 1" pipe, rising 60 feet, will be pushing about 20 lbs of water in the pipe. Or 9kg in metric. Install a wider pipe and the weight of water increases exponentially. A 2" pipe has 111 lbs / 46kg of water to push against. I hope that helps.

What you need is a gas powered 1-inch clear water transfer pump with a check valve right after the pump so it will hold the water in the line. Next i would have a big rain barrel for it to fill up at the top of the hill where you are living for storage, so the gas pump doesn't have to run all the time. Then get a small 12-volt submersible pump with a pressure shut of switch to put in the rain barrel and have it go through a filtration system for drinking, showers and laundry. Hope this info helps you guys, keep up the good work.

Matt, you need a two stage system. You can lift 100' with a 1.5 hp pump at a sufficient flow rate to fill a storage tank located by the house/trailer. You can install a float switch in the storage tank that will connect to the pump by the natural pool. You will have a separate pump to send water to the house/trailer and I would install a Big Blue 2 stage filter between the Pool and the storage tank. If you buy a 9 stage reverse osmosis system with a UV light, you can have clean drinking water in the house/trailer. If you installed a mini hydro electric generator and had a few batteries with an invertor, you could use that to power the pool pump. You are a working machine....

@novemberhotel5069
@novemberhotel5069 6 ай бұрын
100% agree the pump you need to get from the seep to the top is a very different pump you need to give pressure to the washing machine etc. First pump the elevation to a storage tank situated as high as possible on the land then gravity feed or use a booster pump for use at the top. The real bonus here is that if you build the house below the current camper level you would probably not need a booster…. Every 30feet of elevation drop would give you 1 bar of pressure. So if the house is built anywhere from 30 feet or more below the storage tank … no booster pump required Make the storage tank as big as possible…. Then only pump for a few hours every couple days to fill it… most pumps will last much longer this way that turning on and off 15 times a day. Each pump will L have a volume to height graph pick a pump based on the graph not on the kw

Figuring out the “lift” the pump needs is 2.31’ = 1 psig So 60’ would be 26’thd That’s just to get the water up to the elevation. Then you need to add what pressure you want ~50psig = 115.5’ of head. So you need 175~thd without ft of friction from piping. Piping will have specs for fittings and pipe friction loss. To figure the HP needed, you will be on the pump manufacturers specs. that will include the flow rate. All appliances, sprinklers etc will need to be added up to figure out GPM@THD. You will need a pressurized bladder tank to eliminate water hammering. Great video.

If you are confident that there has been no chemical contamination on you land. Then all you have to do for drinking water is. A) Boil it for 7 minutes, then allow to cool over night in an aluminium pan with a cloth over the top. Let it settle 12hrs. Silt will fallout, then put through a carbon filter . Then bottle and put in the fridge. Chill & drink. Lived in Central Africa for 3 years. Thats how we did it. You must boil drinking water and allow it to settle. You will be ok with that.

I just got back from crewing on a boat in the Suriname river. I spent some time with a young lady who volunteered for a snake organization. One of the many discussions were how chickens on person’s property would bring snakes from the jungle. This was so much so that if a person was to need snake venom, they would go to the veterinarian and not the hospital. The bushmaster was the most poisonous. It will kill you in 20 minutes, but the anaconda just scares the holy Jesus out of me lol

Hydraulic Ram Pump … it uses its on pressure to pump and no power is needed. Never stops and last for years..I’ve seen Amish use it here in the states. It’s slow but once you fill your tanks at the top it will keep it filled. NO POWER AT ALL… look it up and build your own…. bTW I absolutely love you guys!!! Keep up the great work.

a pump and generator would have come in handy. Hiring help would have also been a good idea. Locals are likley use to this kind of work in the jungle

With that high of arise don't forget to put in check valves one-way flow valves otherwise you'll siphon back or burn your pump up.

Engineering the pump: 1) Figure out your power solution as the pump will have to reside next to the well 2) Use your phone to capture the elevation difference in feet 3) Determine your consumption needs in gallons 4) The pump size is based on gallons, psi output, and feet of pump head required 5) The pump head is calculated from the vertical elevation in feet + assume 5 feet in pipe fitting loss 6) Use 1” pipe and then reduce to 3/4” after 100 feet 7) Add in a check valve near the discharge side of the pump 8) Consider adding a water storage tank near the top of the hill and a secondary pump (which you have already). Add a water float level in the tank to trigger the well pump (that contactor can be found at Home Depot in the sprinkler section 9) Alternative to the float level, you could use a sprinkler controller to manage the start/stop of the pump 10) Solve the power issue first

One more thing. The Min PSI required is determined from this. You need 2.31 psi to move water one vertical foot.

Hi guys. I'd suggest a submersible pump and either 3/4" or 1" poly tube. You can get up to 600' on a reel. We use a submersible 1.5 hp pump in a 100' well and get 16 gallons a minute with 1.25" poly waterline . Hope this helps

I guess this maybe good enough for some things, but to me you need to get a drilled water well, don’t know if you have electricity to run the pump but you can always get a generator to run the pump, either way you need to get the water tested before you start drinking it!

Forgot to mention that you can use a submergeable pump to get the water up. Much love from the Caribbean

I think this may help you. Pump (Brake Horsepower) = (gpm X head (feet of water))/(3960 X Pump Efficiency). Also, Feet of water (head) / 2.31 = minimum pressure psi required. Any good pump place can size you a pump if you can provide the feet of head (verticle distance of rise) and the flow you want. You will want some margin for elbows, Tees and pipe flow resistant.

And a one-way or anti-siphon valve at the top so that the line stays primed.

In the raptors - hawks, eagles, falcons, owls, etc. - the male is usually the smaller of a pair of these birds. Birds we call hawks fall into two main types: one type hunts and kills other birds and the other hunt and kill rodents, snakes, and small game like squirrels and rabbits. Famers where I grew up used to shoot "chicken hawks" and those were often Sharp-shinned hawks that would take chicks easily. They are about the size of a crow but don't have a red tail. If you can describe the birds size & color or get a picture that would be a big help in identifying the species. You can also ask the locals about which birds prey on domestic birds like chickens or ducks. There is a species of red-tailed hawk in Puerto Rico, but they are fairly large and usually don't hunt birds. The American kestrel is found in Puerto Rico. They have a beautiful red tail, and are about the size of a blue jay - maybe 9" long. They might go after chicks if they can get to them. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_kestrel#/media/File:Male_American_Kestrel.jpg

Like the idea of pumping your well water holding tank in an elevated tank tower. Probably recommend a well cover to keep it free or debris. Maybe a float mechanism to turn on the pump when the holding tank is low. . Good luck. !!

LOL!! I am a Falconer. The brown one was a juvenile. The one with a Red tail is an adult. The Juveniles actually look bigger as their feathers are at least 1/2 inch longer than the adults. That said, in raptors, the females are about on average 1/3 bigger than the males.
