Zero Hour contracts allow companies to give workers less rights. People on a salary have more job security, stable income and benefits like healthcare, holiday pay, notice period etc. Majority of people on zero hour contracts would rather be on Salary. A lot of companies push zero hour contracts because it means they can take advantage of their staff.

100% true. But as a student for the last 5 years, zero hours contracts are far more desirable. Maybe set an age limit of 23, with an exemption above that for those who can prove they are a student? Probably over simplified. It’s a difficult issue.

You guys don’t realise that 0 hour contracts means that horrible contracts like Dominos will give hours depending on how much a manager likes you. One month you’ll get 80 hour weeks and then they’ll drop you to 4 hours a day- impossible to mortgage or rent with no security.

Depends what stage in life you’re at really. I’m a uni student so they work perfectly for me. I can pick and choose hours that suit me. If you’re older and on a zero hour contract you’ve only got yourself to blame 🤷‍♂️

Proddy can't wear a john deere hat and hate diesel, also its the back bone of the whole transport industry, also a 0 hour contract means they don't have to pay you or put you on, putting hours on a contract means they have to give you minimum hours and money, so if your only pick up 8 on the weekend you get an 8 Jr contract, anything else is seen as overtime, it prevents people getting shafted by their bosses

The downside of my 0 hour contract, I will work 30-40 hours every week but I’m only entitled to 3.3 hours of paid holiday for the year. My colleagues who have their 30-40 hours contracted get 120-150 hours of paid holiday a year.

I had a look as they were discussing it. It seems either could be correct. the pyramids creation date is somewhere between 2700-1500bc Cleo was alive 70-30bc Moon landing 1969 so would depend on whether Pyramids were before or after approx 2040bc

I think it is also right to assume that this anecdote probably takes the age of the most popular egyptian pyramids of Khafre and Khufu. Consensus about their construction data seems to be around 2500 bc.

Zero hour contracts are good. If you actually get given shifts. My brother had one n was doing a load of shits. New manager comes in. Barley 2 a month. Then non. And considering how hard it is to get a job he was screwed for a while, no money at the age of 18/19 and a uni student.

My old job, I worked there for 3 years doing 42.5 hours on a zero hour contract got myself a place everything then all of a sudden my shifts go down to 3 a week no notice about it whatsoever then I speak to my manager about becoming homeless if this carries on, his response "not my problem" left with no notice which absolutely fucked him and went to hr about his sex emails he left on the work computer with his dick pics so he got sacked

a zero hour contract is detriment to peoples livelihood if working class or have children. say you need 16 hours part time work to get your child care allowance and your work will only offer a part timer zero hour contract meaning your hours go up and down every week meaning the universal credit in Britain doesn't get paid because you cant prove you are on a part time with a set amount of hours because it is stated as zero hour contract. Also, what if your company pay you sick pay and you are contracted to zero hours ? paternity leave for mothers and fathers wont be paid at your standard 16hours for part time or your 40hours for full time while the working class attempt to build family life's. zero hour contract is how Weatherspoon's had all the staff let go during the pandemic... we need to protect the future not tear it apart TORY PATTER THAT ZERO HOUR CONTRACT!!
