New subscriber here. This is awesome. I love farmers eggs they are the best. Compared to the store bought omg they are like night and day. They are very creamy and so delicious. The taste is so much better to. Fresh farmers eggs are just awesome. I love going to Gilroy to buy them from a local farm.

Do you wash chicken eggs in hot or cold water?... and do you use soap?.. We have a small flock of Ameraucanas, Whiting True Green, and Rhode Island Reds which make a pretty colourful egg carton. We’re looking to add Welsummers, Black Cooper Marans, and Olive Eggers soon for even more variety. We live in Canada, in Victoria (in the city) so think we’re just going to make a small egg stand in front of our house for our local community. Thank you, and Love your helpful content!👍

We wash our eggs in hot water, and I just looked back again and you are supposed to wash them between 90-120 degrees Fahrenheit. Most houses hot tap water can get up to 120 so you shouldn’t need to heat it or anything. I believe you aren’t supposed to use regular dish soap. We have used just hot water with a little vinegar mixed in. It’s supposed to help with eggs staining. We are trying out an actual organic egg wash solution next to see if we find any difference. On a large scale operation in the US an fda approved egg washing solution is required. Hope this was helpful and thank you for watching!

@@easyworkacres Thank you for your reply! Love that your looking into an organic egg wash! We have been washing in hot tap water with no soap, as I thought I had read somewhere not to use soap. Thanks for clarifying! I’ve never heard of using vinegar for cleaning the stains especially. I will definitely give that go! Absolutely love your channel, keep up the great work!🤙

What abput grocery store? Especially the local co-op grocery?

We haven’t had any experience in those realms yet so I chose to not speak on those. I have heard those are viable options, we just haven’t gotten linked up with a co-op or grocery store. If we do end up getting involved in those spaces we will probably do another video discussing that process too! Farm gate sales ONLY in Canada if eggs have not been graded but a recognized Government ( Provincial) facility. Huge huge fines if busted .

There are regulations where I live. Eggs cannot be sold off the property! Can only be sold from the farm and must have only 99 chickens or less. Ontario, Canada. .

Yes, Every country or state may have different rules. Kentucky doesn't have the rule about selling off property but there are regulations on how many you can sell per week before commercial regulations come into play. Kentucky doesn't regulate your number of hens but more so the number of eggs you sell weekly. Kentucky is 60+ dozen sold per week have to meet commercial guidelines. We get ours from Zellwin.com they are good quality and you can buy in bulk. Last time I checked they were the cheapest place to get them when you break it down to price per carton on other websites and Amazon.
