Was thinking about you guys yesterday as I was in Cincy (I’m from Columbus) to meet my son! Inquired about my guy on AdoptUSKids at the end of May and will be back in Cincy on Monday to bring him home forever!! Your family was a big part of me getting licensed to foster. I now have my 3 bio kiddos, my foster son, and my adoptive son. (Still getting calls about more and I laughed with my worker asking if my agency was interested in buying me a 15 passenger van and a bigger house 😅) I’m just one person! Lol Thank you for your amazing content and for being amazing foster parents and people ❤️

Looks like a fun trip for all. Sawyer singing isn’t distracting, it’s just part of the sounds of being a family. Seeing friends is always refreshing. Your friends look fun. Lake house looks like it was perfect for the littles. Glad your foster is getting some fun and familiar things. I went to BGSU a million years ago to ice skating summer intensive camp. I remember the ton of grass to walk thru to the skating rinks.

Miss those Michigan lakes…😢 Glad all three kids got to do that. Also - just walking around a college campus plants a tiny seed. You can literally picture yourself there.

I'm going to Alliance, Ohio Saturday and staying until Tuesday to be able to keep my nieces three babies that we are about to get custody of. We live in Kentucky so it's been a process to get them moved to a different state. I love 60 days in. No, I don't think he tapped out.

Starbucks is a road trip essential at least in my family. As a passenger on many road trips with my dad my jobs were to navigate, find Costco for cheap gas and Starbucks whenever he needed a pick me up 😂 I do love that you include your foster children on trips instead of leaving them at home on respite care or something If it helps I started college in 2009 so you definitely didn’t age yourself in my eyes 😂

Happy birthday for your friend! What is your degree in? I visited BGSU when looking for colleges in 2007, and they literally have every type of activity you can imagine! What I didn't like is the dorms were just so so tiny, and weren't air conditioned unless you were honors.

I have an idea! Have you thought of maybe using "foster friend" or something else besides "foster placement" when referring to the kiddo(s) staying with you? Calling kids a placement seems so impersonal. Sending so much love 💙

So who do you talk to first? Do you talk to the caseworker first or plan the trip and then ask the caseworker? Do you talk to your children or your foster children first? Just curious about the process.

Good question! Personally, we decide as a family and let the child know it’ll be dependent on approval because usually that is usually developmentally appropriate for our placements but others are the other way around.
