You will never please everyone lol. I use packout drawers as much as possible. There are people who will only use Festool systainers, Dewalt T-stack or tough system,Ridgid,Flex,Klein,Ryobi, Bosch L-box,Toughbuilt and am probably forgetting more. The most important thing is being efficient, and causing no damages to a customer's home. A vacuum and broom are the last tools outside of the home.

I like how you shared how you bring them all in and open them all up. For some reason, I was thinking I would forget what's in each one and have to keep going out to the truck. With your work-flow, everything is first level retrievability.

The plumbing company my son works with has lined their trucks with packout boxes, mostly aligned with drawers. It was my son's idea. The trucks are a sea of Milwaukee red on both sides on the inside of the trucks On a side note, the ones most probably hating on them are the ones on team yellow.

Great video. Thanks for posting it. The thing that made me go WHOA was the pickup truck rising cover!!! Never seen anything like it and googled it immediately. (I was on main tv so couldn't look at the linked info at the time.) Thanks for linking the RaZorTop cover. Very cool. Keep up the great videos! 👍👍

It’s amazing how much easier life/work is with these portable/modular tool boxes. I don’t own the Milwaukee, I got the flex system but have all drawer boxes (2 boxes with 3 drawers and 1 box with 2 drawers). In my opinion there are a couple “premium” lines and then everything else below that is fairly similar quality. The Milwaukee and Flex stand alone at the top. The build quality and features is in a class of their own. I’m absolutely in love with 6:13 these boxes. It wasn’t cheap (I spent right at $1,000 for everything) but when comparing it to other options (ie the “decked” system or even something more custom) and also considering the benefits of owning one, you realize that it was worth every penny and some. To me though the coolest part is the fact that because they are modular alf also because if the popularity of them, these companies are going to continue to innovate and bring new items to market. It’ll be a never ending quest for the perfect tool box which I love

Good Job my Man, well organized and professional. I like the drop cloth first and then the tools. Are the trades just have their stuff scattered all over the place scratching up the customer's floor or dirtying their carpet

I had my truck stolen last November with maybe 75% of my packout boxes in the bed. I thought to myself, I'll just put my old storage box on my new truck and use the little bags and cheap tool boxes to get me by. It's not until you don't have your packout system that you truly realize "Wow, all I'm doing is walking back and forth to my truck. My tools are all over the place and I can't find anything."

I think the hardest part of being a contractor is being prepared and organized. People expect everything to be done so quickly and with travel time and certain geographic areas it costs time and money if you aren't prepared.

Definitely overlooked by the customer ….it takes ALOT of planning, organizing , and time to be efficient, people just think your gonna pull a 1/4-20 1/2” bolt and a lock washer out of your ass when your 30 mins from the nearest hardware store…..you better have your shit together if your gonna make it in this business

Could you keep a 6ft folding table in the truck and set that up first so you can put some boxes on the table rather than reach to the floor for everything? Some boxes underneath the table (ones with drawers) and the rest on top

I think the RIDGID 2.0 with all the draws is the way to go. You wheel it in and never have to take the boxes apart. All the draws come out and no bending at all. For the bigger stuff, you can put on top of just have a separate one

Suggestion: for carrying up the steps without breaking your back, attach a cariboner to a rope/cord with a handle, maybe 3’ long (easy build)

Good video, I run a lot of packouts and even though they are more expensive than the competitors they work for me. Everyone has their own system. The big question is what kind of topper/cover do you have to your truck? I can’t say I’ve seen that before. Thanks

The main advantage of the drawers to me is not having to play musical boxes to get to something. All setup and cleanup is is closing drawers. As a crew it probably makes more sense to be spread out, as one person having all my tools follow me around in a stack is why i pay the premium. Especially with being able to bury the packout vac, lights and radio and have full functionality of them without disassembly The main drawback to this approach is no one has figured out how to put drawers on the bottom yet, which toughbuilt is releasing a drawer/cabinet bottom unit. Milwaukee and flex offer a fullsize drawer/cabinet, but not on wheels, huge miss if you ask me.

Ridgid 2.0 has the removable drawer bottom and removable handle. It's precisely why I did not invest into Packout because the largest box should never be the least accessible one. I purchased 2 drawers and stacked those on the bottom and then added the largest tool box on top. No one else can do this yet but it appears that Husky's build out may be releasing drawers this year and may follow suit with being able to put it on the bottom. Ridgid's drawers are heavy, but then again, it lives up to its name. 😊
@onikwa
@onikwa Ай бұрын
The drawers are also heavy as hell, aren't waterproof, are more difficult to organize than you'd think, and take up a ton of room on the stack for tools that generally need to be pretty small.
@derricklewis6724
@derricklewis6724 Ай бұрын
I forget the channel but someone posted videos of their setup with mainly drawers and then the top box is a large box for bulky tools, he built a custom dolly to wheel around the stack if needed inside and uses a hand truck to grab the whole stack from front or back into/out of the van and job. I copied him and it works great for my box truck but probably wouldn't work as well for a pickup truck

The drawers are pretty cool, and definitely have their place. Though based on this video, their workflow addresses this by dismantling the stack once they arrive on site and laying out all of the boxes!

I have seen that a few times, they work very well, and are typically easy to handle. The only downside is they don't stack & lock, so if you've got 5+ cases to bring to a job it does not work as well!

I'm a pack out junkie. I dabble in all trades and move my tools constantly. I have 4 stacks about 6' tall and 2 of the double wide chests. Plus 6 or 7 bags. It really is a awesome system. My original boxes must be about 7 years old. They're not red anymore but still water tight.
