I use Castrol power 1 ultimate 10w40 1 litre (750ml as engine oil + 120ml in gearbox) in my 2015 Jupiter BS3 for the past 1.5 year. It easily cruise at 75-80 km/hr max on highway. In city traffic no overheateing issues faced in freaking hot weather of 40-43°C . I always change my engine oil in 2200-2500km and gearbox oil at the interval of 4500-5000km. Use liqui moly 4t shooter for 5.3 litre tank at every 1500-2000km Recently I tell my mechanic uncle to open the head of the engine for overhaul + gearbox and clutch overhaul in my Jupiter. Just wanted to check the inside part how the engine oil is thoroughly cleaned. Things I noticed first are:- 1. Head of the engine shining like mirror.(Valve + rocker arm + camshaft etc.) 2. Head of the piston is quite clean because of tha tfuel system cleaner 3. Gearbox also looked vey clean. No sludge was found on any part. Overall it was the best engine I given to my Jupiter. Recommended for any scooter which uses 10w30 from their respective companies.

Hi, For gear oil, I am using HP EP90 in my Jupiter 110, although as per manual, I can use engine oil in the gearbox. EP90 is working quite well and I will use it for max 6000 kms or 1 year. This EP90 costed me around Rs. 200 for 1L bottle. So, for 120 ml, it costed me only Rs. 24. I know many people will think HP brand is not good as it is Indian brand. But in actual, I just go through its technical document (PDS / Product Data Sheet), once I am sure, only then I use it. I also own HP EP140, which I use to lubricate the drive chain of my Platina 110 (also use it many places in my daily life where WD40 doesn't work).

@thesportztourer my Suzuki scooter manula recommendeds JASO MA type engine, however the oils available in market are JASO MB. Can you provide a clarification if we us MB grade oil against the recommended MA ? Thanks in advance

Now a days every automobile company has started switching to lower grades viscosity oils. 0w20 or 0w16 So how is this beneficial in long term usage considering engine life. Does it really helps in improving fuel economy or are we compromising with engine life for long run usage. I understand that for cold crank lower viscosity such as 0w20 is perfect. But what about when using engine continuously for more than 100km Does 5w30 protects better than 0w20 ??

Hi, I want to share my experience of engine oil blending of different grades (from 2021). This requirement was started when a particular oil is not thick enough for particular use and higher grade oil is too thicker than the current requirement. Consider an engine requires 10w40 oil, engine oil A, and there is no other oil in the market, which is thicker than A, but there are several oils which are thinner than A, but 10w50 is way thicker than A. So, many people doubt that how the engine will behave if 90% of 10w40 + 10% of 10w50 is used. Theoretically, the combination should be thicker than 10w40 but way thinner than 10w50, but in actual, initially the combination will behave as 10w50 and once, the oils are blended completely, the combination will become the desired one. This mixing time is approximately 100-200 km for sigle cylinder engine with 1-1.5 L oil capacity. Twin or 4 cylinder will take even less time/kms. Consider the below specifications: Engine oil A (10w40): Viscosity @40C: 90 cSt Viscosity @100C: 14.5 cSt Engine oil B (10w50): Viscosity @40C: 130 cSt Viscosity @100C: 18.5 cSt After mixing (90% oil A + 10% oil B), below is the resultant viscosity (theoritically): Viscosity @40C: 94 cSt Viscosity @100C: 14.9 cSt [Warning: Till the oils are not mixed, ride gently, don't accelerate aggressively!] Although, in lab test, the viscosities may vary, but at least will be higher than oil A. So, generally, I use stock oil (10w30), but do topup with higher grade lower viscosity index oil (20w40), so, in this way, at least the viscosity does not becomes the issue.

Hello Sir , I've seen many mechanics , they take a 900ml or 1l pack of engine oil , use desired amount in engine and leftover is filled in the gearbox of all scooters mainly activa . Same was done in my activa 3g . Im worried if 10w 30 grade as a gear oil harm my gearbox bearings or should 80w90 or 75w90 grade is to be used ?

yamaha recommends 12000 km as drain interval for gear oil. They also have specific gear oil in 10w40 grade 100 ml pack. I change engine oil at 3000 kms and gear oil at 6000 kms in my bs6 ray zr 125. Gear oil looks as good as new with no colour change after 6000 kms .
