Same here. You'd either need to add CC events for that (CC64 if I remember correctly), or just automate it to 127 or 0 respectively with a square-shaped curve.

Yeah, sure, as a sighted person you can do this, but you obviously cannot draw a curve without a pen in the first place, so no way to do this when you're not able to see. Of course there are more ways to do this in REAPER. You can use regular CC events within the MIDI editor, and you can use any control surface-like device (including a Komplete Kontrol keyboard) and record your mod wheel / knob movement within REAPER, which can lead to a more natural behaviour. But all of this is a topic for another video.
