I used to work at a high-volume "kill" shelter (with a 90+% adoption rate) that was also heavily involved in TNR and SNAP programs for the entire region. Flatbush is a cause very dear to my heart and I hope they are successful. Every cat deserves a healthy life

I'll definitely donate what I can. I so admire what you do. There were 3 kittens left on my porch about 3 weeks ago. Their eyes were glued shut and they were so sick. My vet charged me almost $300 just to get their first shots, clean their ears, and a bottle of antibiotics. I've been taking care of kittens and cats when I come across them for years and I've noticed the vet rates have doubled. People can't afford the vet anymore sadly.

Remember that every dollar counts! My budget is as tight as anyone's these days but I donated a mere 5$. If more people let go of just a small sum, the impact will be so much bigger than if only those donate that can afford to give high amounts!

this is inspiring, I will continue to donate and thanks for all you do. When we first moved to Flatbush 15 years ago we trapped dozens of cats and had them neutered at Toby Project and the ASPCA, we adopted out around 15 kittens, took in several cats ourselves but it was so exhausting and this was just one block! All our furbabies were born on the streets of Flatbush and I think they are the best cats. Lots of gray ones!

This is a great initiative!! I will donate what I can at the end of the month. I worked for years rescuing cats from the streets and feeding them. Now I have returned to England and only have one cat left. It's too expensive here to have pets,!! But I did bring 4cats home with me. This is such an incredible thing you are doing, there are so many people that would love to be involved with TNR but don’t have the funds to afford private spay and neuters, or don’t have the time and ability to fundraise, or might even have access to free spay and neuter but can’t get an appointment due to high demand. Correct my math if I’m wrong, but I feel like, just as a pair of cats mating can result in 100s of cats in just a few years, 7,500 spay and neuter surgeries a year could equate to millions of lives saved. I will happily support this project and spread the good word.

Unfortunately, the cost of veterinary care has climbed due to increased costs for education. Vet college runs close to $50-60k, so there's 8 years of education to pay off. You're not opening your own clinic unless you're wealthy, so you work for a clinic performing routine spay and neuters, vaccinations, and tooth extractions unless you're a specialty vet.
