Minimalism is about intentionally focussing on the things that we value in our lives and removing everything that distracts us from it. I'll share some methods by which you can find out which items you value, and how to best remove the distractions from your life.

This is so much fun to go through this process! I started working with my space when seeing a commercial that popped up by Organic Erotic. Immediately started doing what they said and got rid of what was not valued before getting spark of joy items. I worked with my room, closet, and bathroom and the entire inside of home. Saw this video right after having to start getting rid of clothes and books in storage area of a room in garage.

Pay to have all your stuff removed, and pack a suitcase and a backpack, and I moved to Queretaro in 2021 at 79! I live in a beautiful AirBnb, that is furnished , and includes all utilities, maid and security. I still use home delivery for groceries etc. This city is SAFE, clean, 70% less expensive, and a cool climate. I LOVE Queretaro, and I thank God..

I think to make it fun you pick 1 target per week, let’s say wardrobe or cabinet otherwise you become overwhelmed if you do all at once and find it frustrating then you don’t want to do it again but with declutering you kinda have to keep doing just later you will do it once every few months 😊

The rule i go by with is if i havnt used the item for more than 1 year i get rid of. And if i feel guilt when giving it out, i tell myself, that is the fine i pay for not using it. Never looked back

In my opinion, what Kondo does is make the house look neat...Minimalism means that you are conscious of spending money... for example, only for primary needs, not throwing money away for no reason like Waren Buffett's minimalism

Hello, great informative video! Just to clarify, Marie Kondo’s method isn’t minimalism. It’s keeping what you love and use, so it can be a large amount. Only keeping the essentials is minimalism 😃
@AlexShiro
@AlexShiro Жыл бұрын
Actually Only keeping the essentials is essentialism. Minimalism is a spectrum, Kondo’s method sits on that spectrum. What each person requires for their life varies, so it makes sense their embodiment of minimalism will too.

Try not to "throw out".. give to family, friends, donate to charity or sell if you can to give things a longer life. Try not to keep fulling landfills. Also, think hard before you buy and bring things into your life. Also, one in, one out works well.

I can see where you're coming from but I have a differen take on it. I think like many things, your upbringing makes it easier to adopt certain beliefs and lifestyles, but it doesn't make it impossible. The way I see it is that adopting a lifestyle is a lot like working out. It might be tough at the beginning but the more you practice and work, the easier it gets!

Minimalism is something that can be learnt. There are plenty of minimalist people who grew up with hoarder parents. I grew up in a large, chaotic house full of people and objects and I was constantly overwhelmed by it. Now as an adult, I live in a small home with as few possessions as possible
@DiogenesNephew
@DiogenesNephew Жыл бұрын
If you are naturally predisposed to be a certain way, how on earth could you of all people comment on whether its something one can get into? You are necessarily one of the least qualified people to speak on it. All the people who DID get into it would obviously say otherwise.

Its not about either. Its about not holding onto things that dont have purpose or meaning to you. Everything we owe takes a little bit of energy or space or time. Minimalism is getting rid of the things that are either taking too much of those resources, or are taking those reasources but not giving anything back to you (joy, function, style, etc) Minimalism doesnt have a number and is different for everyone
