We often tell our youth that one day, they will change the world. But what if that one day is now? Fifteen-year-old Grace Sinats believes the youth of today are more than capable of building lifelong voting habits and changing their political landscape for the better. All we need to do is give them the right to vote.
Grace Sinats is a 15 year old climate activist, and advocate for lowering the voting age to 16. In 2019 her climate activist group mobilized over 20,000 people to the streets of Victoria, fighting for climate action. Her biggest passion is fighting for what is right, and breaking down the status-quo. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Really, there's a need of young voices to make the democracy strong, corruption free and more efficient and effective than ever. The situation of democracy in India should be a matter of concern. The fundamental rights have been curtailed too much than before especially the freedom of speech which has been changed so far. The government in India has now in the process of changing the definition of democracy by its actions. You can now imagine the situation of democracy in India.

I agree wholeheartedly, the voting age has needed to be lowered to 16 for a long time now. Not only that, but there should be an upper cut off, or halving the value of the votes of those 80+ years old as they personally do not have as much at stake ! Their votes should be weighted proportionally.

We who are currently adults need to stop underestimating the youth based on the actions of a few idjits and start trusting the majority who really gaf and want a better world and are already putting in the work to get it.
