After getting the Howa 1500 HCR set up, a "Break-In" procedure needs to be done, I attempt to skim through and show the basics of the process. I also Sight in the Cabela's Covenant scope and take a couple test shots.

Usually the video is longer than the actual process. I try to show things in detail while I'm describing "how and why" and sometimes, I just plain ol' ramble on. The "Break in" on the Howa rifle is sort of unique to it and not necessarily required by all rifles. I recently did another video of scope mounting and using a Wheeler torque wrench for the process. Great video got my Howa 1500 HCR for father's day in the grey scale flag pattern. Plan on doing the same barrel break in this week. Great video.

I've got the same rifle and also did the break-in procedure. It's sub-moa all day long. Mine seems to like Hornady Precision Hunter ammo 143 gr ELD-X. Four shot group at approximately 315 yards had a spread just under 2.75 inches. That's me shooting off a folding table with a cheap bipod. I put an inexpensive muzzle brake on it so it has very little recoil. Love the rifle.

Looks like your getting ready for PRC competition now. That Howa is nice. I just want one in 243 Win. To me the 243 can do what these new sixes can do, maybe not but I know my dad would drop a ground hog at 600 yards easily with his 243 years ago. But your Howa is sharp.

I need to get me one of those heavy "Rail Guns"! I like doing the long distance stuff but I have a limited distance at my range. I have not tried a 243....yet! I think my favorite groundhog gun is the .17 Hornet. Thanks for watching!

I like how you explained why you were doing what you were doing and still be able to condense the footage. In some videos (probably myself included), we just talk about what we are doing, and not why. Another thing is that you did range footage, but you didn't make that the main focus of the video. Anyone can throw lead downrange - precision or not. Range videos bore me because anyone can do them. For some reason they are popular though and many channels spend more time shooting and less time explaining. I thought you got a good balance on this video.

Hey man, got a question. When you're cleaning between break-in shots, once the copper cleaner patches come clean, and you use a dry patch, do you re-oil? Awesome video, enjoyed the editing style and mix of content with information!

I just used a dry patch until the break in was completed, afterwards a good cleaning followed by a light oiling for storage. I'll run a couple dry patches through it before I take it out again. Thanks for the compliment, I hope you stick around for more videos!

That's a lot of work! Not that I wouldn't like to but I've been so busy lately! Trying to make videos, finish my garage build and working full time too! Developing hand loads is a serious science, I don't have all the lab equipment needed for it either!

Excellent breakdown on everything and your techniques I learned a shit ton watching this video specially on the break in interesting..🇺🇸🍻🤜🏻 I’ve been looking at that retical on a Crimson Trace ll guy was wanting to trade for something Iv got.How do you like it can you see Retical good looks ultra fine?.Your Range is Lookin good 🍻

Thanks! The retical is very fine and is hard to see at the lower magnifications, but when you zoom in it's great. When you get a scope that has a range of 5X-35X, do you really want to use it a 5 power anyway?

I must've gotten lucky mine shoots a five round group in a one ragged hole at 100. It's just the Howa 1500 6.5 hunting rifle in cryptic highlander. Never broke in like that.

Some say it makes a difference, some say it doesn't. I'll have to work on my shooting skills to be able to group like that. Thanks for watching!
