My grandpas had this clock from working so many years at GM. It gave out a few years before he passed away in 2020…. Is comforting to hear it again…❤❤😢

my neighbour has a clock as this. and i like clocks but please make it silent midnight cause when i was sleeping and i turn in my sleep then i sleep sometimes with my head to the wall and then i hear on the otherside of the wall this clock chiming. but that was a lot years ago i think she already selled that clock to someone else.

This is very difficult. In order to change the volume on a mechanical clock, you need to bend the hammers away from the chime rods to make them hit the rods more lightly. That is the only way to make them softer. To turn them off all together there should be a bar above the hammers that can only be accessed from the rear of the clock. Push it down on the hammers and they will not operate. A wall clock is especially difficult because it must be removed from the wall for this to take place. Sorry, unless a shutoff switch was installed at the manufacturers that is accessed from the front, shutoff is cumbersome. Harold

I just inherited a clock just like this one. Can anyone please tell me how to wind it so I only hear the sounds on the half hour and hour? I'm thinking it has something to do with the three key holes and how they are wound but please anyone who knows can shout out? Thanks!

I’m not a clock repair person or a complete expert though I love clocks and I really want to be but I think looking at it it might be the second hole the one on the right. I have a metal clock or some call a bracket clock with three whinding holes It’s broke but figuring it out the hole in the middle is for the Clock itself and I think the one on the left is the chime melody and the one on the right is for the strike part that’s just a guess but I do know the one in the middle is the clock mechanism itself that keeps the time. Try the one on the One on the right side and see if that’s it if you don’t want to play the melody and just the strike. You know they do make wind up clock said only go on a half hour

the three key holes are: 1st key hole: this hole needs to be wound for the striking, 2nd key hole: this hole needs to be wound, it is the important part of the clock, it is to keep track of the time, 3rd key hole: this needs to be wound and also importantly because these are the chimes.
