I’ll always love the memories of the stern show I had in my late teens into my mid 20s but a few years ago I tried to get back into listening and it’s just not the same…Howard seems to have become just like a lot of the people he hated such as Imus.

Scott didn't get fired, his position was just eliminated. That sort of thing just happens as technologies transform the workplace. Scott was blaming YT but I'm not so sure about that, I think the writing was on the wall as soon as remote work became feasible. Howard couldn't wait to hide out in the basement of his house and do his show completely online. Took a while after eliminating Howard TV to get there but he finally did. It had deteriorated badly enough just going woke but when he started doing it remotely, it completely jumped the shark.

I’ve been a huge Stern fan for over 30 years and although I still love the show and listen religiously , i’ve come to realize that he’s just not a nice person. I see him now as a very selfish person and cares about no one other than himself (and maybe Robin. Yes, not Beth). I find it really hypocritical that Howard has always made a big deal about “honesty” and giving everything to the show and his fans but then BIG things happen to people on the show and they’re NEVER addressed. People leave the show (Scott Depace, Scott the Engineer, Shuli, Brent) and it’s never even acknowledged that they’re no longer on the show. They just disappear and everyone acts like they never existed. Now same thing with JDs divorce, he just suddenly starts hanging with Jon Blitt and starts acting like a frat boy and no one mentions his divorce. It’s like if Ronnie breaks up with Stephanie and it’s not brought up. Just weird

Howard has always been brutally honest about his own selfishness, paranoia and his other assorted neuroses. And working with the guy must be exhausting because he obsesses over every little thing, even purely insignificant things. He is unable to truly enjoy anything because with him, every silver lining has a cloud. It's funny to listen to one one level, but being around that constant negativity and having to work with someone like that isn't easy.
@bennylevine387
@bennylevine387 Жыл бұрын
It is peculiar that people leave without mention. Some of those cases like Brent are maybe ugly stories and just not discussing it is the wisest course of action. Same with a staff member's divorce. Why would JD wanna get into that? And being that I or anyone I know can't name his wife or identify anything about her attests to the fact that it's not at all like if Ronnie broke up with Stephanie. In the end, it's still gonna be hard to cast a radio DJ who has three people with him for 40 years or longer as being flawed in the area of personnel loyalty. Or that he has some atoning to do for every staff member who didn't stay with him for 40 years. Even for those whose time on the show was brief, their time of employment on the show is sort of typical of normal human job cycles. It's weird to look at a guy who worked on any show 12, 17, or however many years and the first thought is he was somehow shortchanged.
@dr.robert5322
@dr.robert5322 Жыл бұрын
@@bennylevine387 Agreed, but he’s always preached honesty and giving everything to the show. He got pissed when JD didn’t announce his engagement on the show and then he gets divorced and they just suddenly start doing segments on his partying with Blitt like nothing happened ? Cmon man. You can’t have it both ways. At least tell us he got divorced. It’s just weird

Over the years it became painful to see/hear Howard interact with his staff. They were all barely scraping by but dealing with his arrogance, low pay and over bearing tone all because fame is addictive. And it was pathetic to see Howard force zero JD as funny when he wasn’t remotely funny without another cast member sparring with him, while Sal, Richard, Gary and even fringe members could hold they’re own. I could put up with all of Howard's humorous antics, and joining Sirius was the main reason I followed him to satellite radio. However, Artie left and His show became shorter and shorter with the taking off for 3 months of the summer. COVID-19 just about finished it for me because you knew he wasn't coming back to the studio, The 3-hour shows with interviews lasted 2 of those hours. While Sirius offers a lot of content besides Howard, My lifetime subscription was lost in the transition, and having to renegotiate for another year every time wasn't pleasant. I have too many different sources for music and paying to hear Howard who matured into a great interviewer was just not enough to sustain a show that always ran like a well-oiled machine that included all the cast members in one place. Unfortunately, for you Scott, Howard wanted everyone to follow Gary's, Robin's and Fred's lead ( OG's ). RIP Ralph C.

I loved the Howard Stern Show up until they got rid of Jackie. The show was a big success, and I feel like Jackie (and others), is what made the show so successful. Then when Jackie's contract came up, I could tell that Howard was going to use that as an excuse to stab Jackie in the back. I don't think Howard wanted anyone but him to get credit for the show. No matter how little credit they got. I also felt that Howard was crule towards Artie, and probably helped push Artie more towards drugs. That's when I was no longer a fan of Stern, not the crew that had made the show so successful.

Why is every ex-Stren employee video on KZfaq, and all their fans in the comments, just sour grapes? Howard is the G.O.A.T and became the best by making hard decisions and calling the shots. I guess some people are just simpletons and have a myopic view of life like they never evolved from a high school mentality. It’s an interesting phenomenon, actually.

I live in NY. I listened to Stern from 1991 til 2012... I was (and always will be) an avid... bordering on rabid fan... of what the show WAS. I couldn't continue listening after 2012... Howard just did a complete 180... which is obviously fake as hell, and done to attract more high profile guests for him to interview. Don't get me wrong... he IS an amazing interviewer... always has been. But he pulled this fast 180 at the cost of his legacy and legions of fans.

De pace was actually overall the best staff guy. You could always count on him to be entertaining and go after the little whimps like jason. Scott also appreciated how crazy freakin benjy brought value to the show and sometimes that was difficilt to see. As opinionated as he was politically he could also be self deprecating like with his golf contraption and the she boy restaurant experience with Ralph and the gang. And btw, politically he was a lot more on the money than given credit for amongst the radical.left Stern show BS. Consider today. Rather be DePace than Howards gang and the 2024 election is going to show just that.

Awesome another former hs employee who did nothing before howard and nothing afterwards who was only known thx to howard. Getting rid of howard tv and fake wanna be celebrities like doug and scott was a great decision. Love all these guys pretending like they had any idea what was going on. If they did they would have known they were gonna be let go. Had nothing to do with howard or marci (which everyone wants to blame all the shows ills on) it was bc of sirius obviously and they wanted all the video content on their app exclusively. Scott obviously isn’t that smart that he cant realize that or maybe he thinks he was more valuable than he actually was.
