People forget that Ed went busking (playing music on the street) for most of his early career. He can hold his own with just his voice and a guitar, no auto-tuning no nothing.

The ‘parting glass’ might’ve been born in Scotland (1605) but it’s been kept alive by the irish for at least a century now.

Ed is amazing. This song is amazing and got me so emotional. I wasnt a huge fan until I happened to see him at Red Rocks, CO and he blew me away as one of the most amazing musicians I’d ever seen. And he’s just gotten better since. Touches my soul when he sings like this and thanks Howard (the GOAT) for bringing this out of him through your unique interviewing master class.

its an amalgamation of both Ireland and Scotland at this stage. The original lyrics originated in Scotland in the 1600s but they have been changed over the years by many songwriters and poets in both Ireland and Scotland. The popular melody, cadence and structure of the song originated in Ireland.
