Copying Glove80 Layers
To copy layers when using the Glove80 keyboard, you will need to use the *Copy select layers* functionality in the Glove80 Layout Editor:
* First, open the webpage where you are editing a layout.
* Click *Search* at the top of the pane.
* Enter tags to find the layout you want to copy from.
* Click on the layout you found.
* If the layout uses custom defined behaviours, you must copy all the text in the custom defined behaviours text box.
* Click the *Copy select layers...* button.
* Select the layers you would like to copy in the pop-up window and submit.
* The Glove80 Layout Editor will copy your selected layers to the layout you are editing. The layers will appear below your last layer.
* If you copied custom defined behaviours, you must paste the text into the custom defined behaviours text box of the layout you are editing.
The *Copy select layers* button is a feature that was added to the Layout Editor to make it easier for users to create layout mash-ups. You can use this feature to share single-layer layouts with other users. For example, if you created a World of Warcraft layer that you wanted to share, you could use the *Copy select layers* button to export the layer into a standalone layout.
To make it easier to find layouts to copy, it is helpful to open a second tab and search for layouts. This allows you to easily switch back to the layout you are editing and means you are less likely to forget to copy the custom behaviour text.
It is also possible to copy an entire layout. For example, one user copied the key layout from their Moonlander to their Glove80 configuration. Another user wanted to retain a backup of the stock MoErgo-qwerty layout. However, one user found that when they went to copy a layout, they had forgotten to open one, so they assumed the editor would provide the stock qwerty layout. Instead, the editor provided the last layout they were working on. Copying a row staggered keyboard layout (e.g. a standard keyboard layout) to a columnar keyboard (e.g. a Glove80) may result in a sub-optimal layout. Although it is possible to copy layouts between different keyboard types, this is not recommended.
