So just like strike anywhere matches it’s all about friction generated heat and not a chemical reaction. The smoother the surface the more contact and friction heat build up. Also some ace hardware stores carry the diamond strike anywhere matches for $1.50 a box. Academy has UCO red / white tip large and small boxes

I probably have 200 matches without a match box. (My daughter took the boxes for craft projects) I wanted to light a candle and was striking on nail files, grout, sand paper and NOTHING. After watching your video, I I struck one on the metal of my wood stove! Awsome! Thank you!

Swan matches are the best strike anywhere matches I've found. I lit one on a pebbledash wall before which I didn't think possible at the time. Highly recommend them

+Harold Mohler. Swan are a UK brand. Both for safety reasons (in transit) and also due to their low cost, most western countries do not import or export matches. The company who make them may also operate in other European countries,

This would definitely work. Y'ever get a rug burn? Slide your knee on a rug fast, you'll get a burn. You're giving the match head the same thing, just don't use it on rugs.

I strike them against my rough denim jeans. Fortunately Levi's don't burn, so I can also rub the match out on them, rather than dropping it on the rug. 😃

Well you are building up heat at the tip of the match when your rubbing it along which is why it lights. Great video dude!

You can rub a match in something less drastically but much quicker and repetitively over and over to build up enough heat from the friction to cause ignition

I found the best method, use a toaster. I was scratching matches on tons of stuff with no luck and looked over at my toaster... Lightbulb. Just got the match near the element in the toaster, didn't even have to touch it.

I can try, if you're having an issue its likely the pressure, speed or material so I would start by double checking the finger position and really commit to it when you try to strike. Also not every single material is going to work well so maybe see it there is something else that works better.

Their are a lot of considerations, mainly humidity. Although it may be invisible, a cold item in a warm room will have a fine layer of condensation on the surface, but a warm item in a cold room will be dry. Their are some days, mainly in summer, where condensation makes everything, including the matches too damp to strike.

grease boy haven’t tried leather but probably, I’ve tried paper, glass, metal, wood, plastic, paint, powder coat, etc. depending on the leather I bet you could do it with some practice (i think firm smooth leather would probably work best)

The natural oils in leather that make them slide safely if you fall off a motorbike will prevent the friction needed to produce enough heat to strike a match I tried it several times without success on my leather jeans and had to use my boyfriends Levi's to strike them. LOL (Jane),

No one OCD case is the same; they're as unique as a fingerprint. I have OCD and I've got a handful of common and uncommon symptoms. It just depends tbh! Everybody's different, though. Only if your fingers are hard enough to keep the pressure on as it strikes. If you pinch cigarettes out with your fingers you will be OK.

They strike only on glass ind metal, The glaze on tiles is glass which is why they strike. The reason that they tend not to strike on autoglass is due to the fine film of oil that builds up from car exhaust.
