This is a good and fair review. I like how you acknowledged the age of the parts and in some cases they "DO" need replacing.

It says conditions seals, the way that was leaking he needed to squirt it out the window as he drove around because that's where his seals are.

My gearbox was leaking like this from the input shaft seal on my XJ. It was dripping like yours. Had to top it off every day. This stuff got the leak to slow substantially. It’s not a fix but it does work. Took about 60 miles to slow the leak. Another 60 miles to reduce it to a couple drops. Now I only top it off once a week instead of every day.

@@psylentsage The seal is blown, that’s a definite. It’s not my daily so I’m not driving it locally. Just the odd snow storm or so. But yes, the gear box needs the seals replaced. Probably just easier replacing the gear box. It’s just a matter of finding a reman’d that’s not complete junk.

I think that this product is more convenient when the loss is minimal and it involves steering racks with internal retainers that cannot be removed without disassembling the steering and using special tools. It is a fairly expensive repair in a workshop.

Had a blown line, power steering died from being dry, replaced both… still had a leak, felt so defeated, had to have been a seal from the rack maybe from running dry, was a good amount too, foot by 6 inch spot on the pavement in half a day tops, decided to grab this as a Hail Mary and my god it worked phenomenally almost instantly, was not expecting much, very impressed.

Realistic and honest video which I appreciate a lot. I know in your case, the Lucas did not stop the leak, as you had to replace the seals. They were likely old and dried. You did not mention if it stopped the "whining noise" when you turn your steering wheel, which I have a pretty strong whining noise, that I first want to fix. It's whining or howling for a reason, and likely it's because there's very little power steering fluid in the system. ( reservoir) So, did your noise go away ? I don't know if mine is leaking as there's still snow on the ground where I live -- but I'll check that. Maybe I'll have to do what you did, and replace the seals. I have a 2001 Olds Aurora ( rare car) with only 54,000 miles on it, in great condition, so I would think the pump would be OK, as long as it has fluid in there, as the fluid also prevents the pump from overheating, and seizing up. --- just like a fuel pump that keeps cool submerged in gasoline. I blew a fuel pump, by running on just about an empty tank, and learned the hard, "expensive" way. So, I have to start somewhere, I have good steering, really good, but a howling noise coming from somewhere, and it's likely from the power steering pump. So can I ask you, did you have this kind of noise ? and did the Lucas stop the noise problem ? Can you let me know ? -- really enjoyed your Video -- good clear presentation. Note -- I should add, I've seen quite a few videos now, and some say it works great, and others not so much, so I don't know what to believe ?
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Жыл бұрын
I remember the Aurora when it was new. Nice car. Amazing that yours only has 54K miles. Unfortunately, I don’t remember if the stop leak eliminated the whining sound. I was focused on the leak. If yours is not leaking, I recommend doing a fluid change. I recently had an Impala that was whining, but not leaking, and it functions perfect after a fluid change. Otherwise, if it is leaking, you could try the stop leak. The next step would be replacing the leaking item. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jN5pe8J_msuyZmw.html

@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Thanks for the quick reply, and I just got back from the auto supply place, and I put the Lucas in right there in the parking lot, and believe it or not in about 10 minutes driving the howling was 80 % "gone" which made me very happy, coz it was loud. Before I went there, I checked my reservoir, and it was almost empty, so this is what was causing the whining sound. When I got home I could see the leak marks in the snow, which is now melting fast. So, the next step is to find out if it will continue to leak, or if this Lucas stuff actually will fix the leak. I'm hoping to get off lucky, but if it's leaking I know a guy that will change the seals etc for a low cost. Right now I'm starting to think it just may seal the leak, as that stuff is thick, and I'm sure it has chemicals that will bring back the rubber seals to life, so I guess time will tell on this. Thanks from -- Canada :)

@@grantp4022 BlueDevil from Canadian Tire is the only thing that might work and if it does its usually permanent. Lucas tends to make the steering wheel lock up or make it harder to steer in very cold weather. Both cost the same $18.99 at Canadian Tire. Lucas tends to just make leaks leak slower but never fix them. Bluedevil is like a liquid but works great on seals.

Tried Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak on a leak in my 1999 Lexus ES 300 and, like your situation, it didn't work. The one thing you left out of your video is the refund procedure and result. Did Lucas actually come through on their product guarantee and refund your purchase price?

Thanks for sharing. I did call Lucas about the guarantee and refund. They said they stand behind their product and to mail the original receipt and piece of paper with my contact information (name, address, phone number) to their corporate office. Then, I would receive a refund check in the mail in 6 to 8 weeks. I mailed it to them about 5 weeks ago. I have not received a check yet. I honestly forgot about it. I will let you know when I receive it.

How hard is to understand products like this will not work on really big leaks like this... ... this product will also not work on round seals around steering shaft for example, because they constantly move it's more for leaks around houses and leaks where you have gaskets....

Wow the stuff really worked and you also have an affiliate link in the description. This is probably a really trustworthy review. if I use your link will you receive any compensation? Maybe the product works maybe it doesn't. if you're trying to push this product and make a few bucks I get it but maybe try not to make the video so generic and obvious. Edit, I stand corrected this is a real review and definitely an honest review. I can admit when I'm wrong I apologize for the negative comment. In the end of the video the product did not work. In my haste to pass judgment I did not take the time to watch it till the end. I was wrong. Sorry sir I will be subscribing to your channel thank you for the great content.

I don’t think you actually watched the video, because this product did NOT work for me. It failed miserably and I ended up replacing the seals. All of my reviews are 100% honest. I purchase every product with my own money, I am not sponsored, and I show the results; good or bad. I am not trying to push this product. I care 0% if someone purchases it or not. Just sharing my results to help people out in their decision making. Yes, I share affiliate links. It is clearly stated on my channel description page and in the description of every single video. I post a lot of Amazon links, so it would be foolish of me not to use affiliate links. Thanks for watching, and good luck.
