A while back, someone brought one of those Cutwater margaritas by my place. I was making cocktails for my friends, so I thought this was an easy way for me to have a snort while I was mixing things up for everyone else. Definitely did not understand at the time that this thing was a full 12 oz can of margarita, basically making it a triple! (for how I make it) I'd say the quality of the drinks I was making didn't suffer, but really, I'm not sure... Novelty 'health food' is expensive. Eating healthy can be cheap as hell. Compare a boiled egg, a modest serving of plain Greek yogurt with a spoon full of granola, some veggies, and a bit of uncured meat to the $2/serving (before milk) fake out cereal (seriously, low cal sweeteners in a cereal?). You're getting more nutrition for less money, the difference is you're doing more work than pouring milk over a bowl of cereal.

First, I agree. Costumes are fun and you should do them more. Second, you're the only person (that I've seen) that does magic spoon ads without talking with a mouth full of cereal. Which is greatly appreciated

I like your point about how a cocktail like a Marg should feature the spirit. I always feel like in a lot of ways that can be the difference between getting a cocktail at a bar and fixing one at home/having a friend make one for you at a party. Depending on the bar you go to, you arent nessarilly going to get a "good cocktail" but you will get one that tastes good and is imminently drinkable.

Literally went to my phone from watching it on the Xbox in the middle of it so I could comment how much I love this series/video. Just finished the canned old fashioned ep and had to watch the next one. You're great, your notes are great, Meredith is great, thank you for blessing us with these.

This was an exciting episode for me, I love classic margaritas as they make my salivary glands jump do a jig (in a good way). Very informative. As for the Post Meridiem who needs a Guiness gadget? Just keeping it in the fridge or freezer (to limit dilution) and then shaking it with ice like you shook your own? Simple solves, Greg. Simple Solves.

Canning margaritas would be tricky. With the recent cocktail renniassance, there are a fair few people familiar with the traditional mixed drink. But still, for every one of us, there are a hundred that still think of a neon green syrupy concoction dispensed from a slushie machine, and those two drinks are very hard to reconcile. Regardless, half-cut Greg cosplaying as Rich Texan and yelling at the camera is always a treat. Edit: never mind, I see you recognized the same potential problem.

Obviously, you can't beat the quality of a handcrafted margarita, especially, when compared to a canned or premade mix of any kind....BUT Cayman Jack is pretty good and might be the best canned margarita I've ever had. Also, I hope the next canned cocktail video is canned Long islands because the Long island iced tea is my favorite drink ever and so many of them in cans or bottles are dogshit! Love from Indiana!

Hey Greg, I'm throwing out there a Cartoon Cocktail Taste Test Request. Specifically, from Season 2 Episode 20 of The Simpsons: Flander's Planter's Punch. As Ned describes it, it has "three shots of rum, a jigger of bourbon, and just a little daberilla of creme de cassis for flavor.". If you're ever doing cocktails from Pop-Culture or TV, I'd like to see this one.

No question, 12 oz of a 15% canned cocktail is strong, but not so much in comparison to the standard. Assuming the tequila and curacao are 80 proof, Greg's recipe is 1.2 oz of ethanol. If the final drink is 5 to 8 oz (4 oz liquid plus ice melt), then the proof of the standard margarita is 15-24%. Put another way, assuming each margarita is 6 oz, the homemade version is 20% ABV which beats that of the can. Don't take my word for it, though - try it at home. Repeatedly! First one to do so as Greg did with handwritten notes that are legible wins!

Just for reference 5% and 7% abv are pretty common for canned beer. Don't know if that's were these companies are aiming for but yeah. Also, I'm a bit of a beer guy, other than the 12% I wouldn't be afraid of quickly getting drunk on these. Obviously the 50 proof one is just an actual strait up margarita and that one would kick my butt.
