Today I learned Tim Cain is colorblind. Quite impressive making a color palette for a game going purely off of the RGB values.
@ViviSectia

It's actually pretty common for colorblind people. For some reason jobs where colors are important always seem to have the highest concentration of colorblind people and they all tend to work heavily with RGB values.

This made me lmao cuz I use RGB values due to color blindness😂😂😂 I can see the colors, but blue and purple look the exact same to me, and I learned it's because of that darn red. It's so hard to distinguish colors when they are mixed versions of other colors.

Heads up about the coke bottle copyright thing: I once attempted to make my own Nuka Cola and bottle it, but focused on capping it before labeling it. While I never confirmed it, every attempt to use commercial caps failed miserably because the coke bottles seemed to be a fraction of a millimeter smaller than a commercially available bottle cap can fit. So no, not only can you not make a label that fits on a coke bottle, you can't even reuse them. Fantastic seeing you and Tim collaborate like this, and I cannot wait to try this recipe.

@ShinKyuubi
@ShinKyuubi Ай бұрын
@@TheNucaKola Talk about over designing to make sure you're unique...for a glass bottle. No wonder the ones in Fallout decided to go that route. You CAN get Nuka Cola bottles shaped like rockets...from the official Bethesda store, there's a chick called Mrs. Fallout who's whole channel is nothing but Fallout related shorts and videos and she's got just about every one of those bottles they have sold...she's even got one made of actual radioactive glass.
@BolinFoto
@BolinFoto Ай бұрын
It's more like saving than copyright... They produce so many bottles it's ridicolus so even a fraction of a millimeter will save them tons and tons of material for the caps. And coke company have their own bottle manufacturers so. It was the same thing with their cans a few years ago, som design thing that saved a fraction of gram that then ended up being tons of aluminium in saving :P So my two caps is that it's more for saving materials than copyright. And the lable stuff it's for saving paper making them even cheaper to produce. All the features that people say are intentional I think is mostly just unintenionally because they can do whatever with their design. If they wanted it to be copyrighted like that then we could not be able to buy loose caps...
@taylorpennington8126
@taylorpennington8126 Ай бұрын
@@BolinFoto it’s not even a matter of opinion just look it up. They literally designed the bottle in the 1900s because copycat brands were taking their soda. It’s the entire reason that they designed the bottle in the first place.

When you mentioned Nuka Black and a coffee base, for some reason I immediately thought of Kofola, an odd Czech/Slovak soda that is coffee-flavor-adjacent without being actually coffee. It was invented in the '60s to use up surplus caffeine, which is probably the most Atomic-Industrial origin story I've ever heard for a drink.

Some years ago they released this new flavor; Volt Coffee, marketing it as the original Volt flavor but with actual coffee instead of simply caffeine. It was the vilest thing i have ever tasted.

If I recall correctly from World of Refreshment, Quantum has double the sugar and calories of regular Nuka and that was supposed to be a selling point like the strontium-90. Makes my lore brain wonder if the reason for that is because of the impending shortages as the Sino-American War went on and on (iirc, Quantum was released in like July 2077). I love the rocket bottles even if they're entirely impractical.
@devinaschenbrenner2683

Ehhhhh. Lore is kinda of contradicting here. In 3 it's stated that Quantum was on a Test run to the public is pre selected areas. I can't remember all of em off the top of my head. But I do know that Massachusetts was not one of them. Yet we still see it in Boston. Why? It wouldn't be there. Then you go to Nuka World and it makes it seem that Quantum was already a regular flavor in the line up. Just like why is there a X01 Nuka Quantum Power Armor Suit. X01 was developed by the Enclave after the bombs fell. Not before. Canonically there is no way in hell that should exist. But it does. So who knows

So with regards to removing the 12oz coca cola enamel label, it's a monstrous pain, but it can be done with a paint scraper, same with the 8oz but it's much easier. Also commercial beer bottle grade bottle caps work with the bottles fine to my knowledge. A friend of mine's mom once managed to get a label to work on one of the 8oz bottles (i think the curvature is more constant), but she was a wiz with all things crafty and I never learned how she did it.

With the custom label for your bottle you can buy printable white waterproof vinyl online for it. I've done a few weird shaped decorations for things and it'll give you that little bit of stretch you need. its already sticky to boot so it's super easy to apply. You can't let all that work on the labels go to waste!

I saw this video about an hour after it went up and have been burning through Tim's videos ever since, I didn't realise he had a KZfaq channel, so thanks for not only a great video, but for bringing Tim's channel to my attention, such great content and insight into both Fallout, the mind of it's creator and the game industry!

You should try using this in a dirty wastelander! I love that drink. Though, I make a version of my own with a little freshly grated cinnamon, .75oz of apple pie moonshine, 2 oz of fresh apple cider, and .75 oz of unsweetened blackberry juice in place of the fruit. My strainer isnt good enough to get the pulp out lol.
