I never forget stepping into these bible colleges libraries with all these books knowing that people in remote areas in Africa or south Asia just want their own copy of the Bible. its really convicting . God opened up my eyes to countless global ministries leading the efforts to bring scripture to believers crying out, thirsty fir the Word. Its just our job to spread awareness and gather the American church to support overseas missions. we're to rich already just to store up everything.

My point is - if you are attached to the cost of the bible (you don't want to mess it up) - get a free bible! Or! One from the Dollar Tree (they only sell KJV), or get one from a thrift store. That way, the sky is the limit to decorating and taking notes!

I never studied my Bible until I saw your videos, bought an ESV Crossway Interleaved Bible (I needed a new one anyway) and started journaling. I have read and studied the entire NT in just a few months because I love to take notes and write out thoughts. I do not think about it at all. I just use any color, any paper, any reflection or note I want to add. I love the organic nature of it. My advice to people: stop thinking about it and just take notes. It’s “pretty” because you’ve built it up with your studying. It becomes beautiful because it looks like an organic collection. But Don’t start with “pretty”. That’s missing the point. Also, I write a Q when I have a question and an A for the answer that might be blank until I get a good answer. Also, if you don’t learn by writing then Bible journaling might not be for you. That’s ok! Then just read it. No one said you have to take notes if you learn better just by reading.

It's hard with how "aesthetically driven" a lot of Christian influencers are, but I'm glad you keep it real and rooted! (It's also funny bc I think it's so easy for viewers to get overwhelmed when the reason those pages look so pretty to us is that they were well loved. I mean, think about how beautiful old books are.) I started in NLT in like 2017 or 2019 and even after I outgrew it, I still took notes in that bible until I bought a new one in 2023. I accidentally got one with thinner pages because I couldn't find exactly what I wanted (oh well!), but I'm still going to write it up or interleave or use sticky notes-it was a rite of passage for me to move into my new translation, to signify my growth and growing up, but I won't let something silly like page thickness keep me from being in the word. Any tips for not bleeding through constantly though? I write hard and use Papermate pens a lot bc they don't smear (I'm a leftie)

I've seen those as well lately... I really think it would help me out like you said it seems like more note space... And most importantly large print I believe...
@Clipzy382 ай бұрын
Yes but you’re getting the entire Bible in those five journals. I think an interleaved ESV Bible at $50 is a better deal than the spirals and you still get a full page in between every page of scripture. I think the $100 price tag is paying for the spiral.
@amyoverton9073 ай бұрын
I loved the question about "stopping the search" for the perfect Bible...translation...interleaved vs journaling...font, margins, spiral vs bound ..etc. I was caught in that trap for a long time and it was just a WASTE of time. Pick a Bible and begin. Once you've invested time and have your notes going, the hunt will be off because you won't want to transfer them 😉. And pray about it. Ask God to help you dig in and move on. It's like not knowing which trail to try at a national park...were all still standing in the parking lot looking at pictures on our phones of which one is best, but at some point need to pick one! The important thing is to GROW in the grace and knowledge of Jesus and I love that Faith doesn't dilly dally (mamas still use this word, Right?) over fussing over what's not important. Her freedom is encouraging and inspiring. Faith, your candor wasn't judgy, but needed 😊 and to your point about making any Bible an interleaved Bible...yes! Do this people! If you still LOVE cross references and notes and love the ESV study Bible for example (yes they make a journaling version but it's kind of small font...see? Here I go...🙄) I have glued in Tomoe River paper (find it on Amazon). It's 52 gsm, so thinner than computer paper, but really strong and doesn't ghost. And yes, do it a page at a time when you NEED space, otherwise it just becomes a craft project like she said 🤦 As always Faith we appreciate you keeping the "main thing the main thing"...aesthetics will paralyze people from functional notes and GROWTH in God's Word!

Hi! For the tassels on the side of your Bible page I have a tip that helps that I’ve done with mine! I took a thick size washy tape and lined the page on both sides, & then I took e6000 glue (I think hot glue or any would work) & glued the tassel to the washy tape. It’s held up so well for the last year & I haven’t had to fix it nor has it ripped my Bible page. Also since it’s attached to the washy tape it makes it not permanent & I take it off if I want too!

I would say with the extra features or stuff that could make one Bible "better" than the other- you can always add the extras to whatever Bible you end up with. If you're wanting maps or study guide materials but your Bible didn't come with those they can always be printed off and added in often times for free. If you're wanting to write in it look for a journaling Bible because the pages will hold up better but literally anything and everything else can be added in as you go. Just don't make my mistake and get a print size too small and you can't read it lol

I love doing press-on nails (because I'm very messy with polish on my own nails, lol). I'm currently working on transfering the notes I took in my ESV student study Bible during college. I only took detailed notes on a few books like Romans, 1+2 Cor., a handful of psalms, and Isaiah, so it hasn't been too difficult of a task :) They're going into a She Reads Truth Bible because I love the big margin space and the colors. I think when you fly, a backpack or a big purse would work for your Bible. Not sure if the airlines have limits on weight but your Bible can’t weigh more than 35 pounds and just carry less other stuff with you. I saw on Facebook where one lady was traveling and she put her Bible in her checked luggage and that luggage got stuck out in the rain and her Bible was ruined or she couldn’t read the pages or something, but I would never put your Bible in checked luggage. If it doesn’t meet the criteria for carry on, I would drive.

Faith your nails so beautiful! Where do you get them done?
@HowtoFaithALife3 ай бұрын
I do them at home. Salons are too expensive and take a ton of time! Plus, My left thumb is "clubbed" and many nail techs don't know what to do with it! lol

I bought that document tape, and really like it! but... is there a trick to get the tape separated from the backing? I've been picking at it with a safety pin and its taking awhile just to get it started
@HowtoFaithALife3 ай бұрын
I just bend it! Make a crease and it separates easier! Or rip it!

I would think folks could use an old, well used Bible as their own personal commentary for a new Bible, without transferring everything.

Do you ever just read the Bible? Without pulling out other sources or writing?
