That's cool I started with Dreaming Spanish too, I would say after 350-400 hours I came across this podcast and could understand 80% I fell in love with this podcast and listened to episodes everyday. It's now my favorite Spanish podcast. I listen to others but I always, always come back to how to Spanish. Stick with it , the moment you start understanding is such an reward

Do not give up! I've got 2 years of learning Spanish by my own behind the belt. I understood like 95% of this one at the first time. They've got easier and harder videos. Sometimes I get like 70%. What I can recommend is Spanish with Paul. Find him on YT. Do the free mini course. If it clicks, buy the course. It helped me immensely to get my head around in Spanish grammar, without actually cramming it. Cheers!

As each video starts, I go into the settings and change playback speed to 0.75x and turn on Spanish captions. That helps a lot.

Lo que dices es verdad. Inicialmente me extraño mucho que mi amiga española me dijera "me encanta el castellano con acento americano" (que lo odio yo, lol). Pero tenía sentido despues de pensarlo, pues a mi me encanta el inglés con acento español.

There are people I know who have been living in Mexico for decades whose Spanish makes me cringe. But part of the reason, is that their teachers have never corrected them. Not wanting to hurt their feelings? It's happened to me with multiple teachers. As a Spanish-fluent friend said: First, learn the sounds of the alphabet. Oh, okay... 😞

Every language has its phonetical rules. In your native language you have some not present in the other (you learn). And yes, you are death to them. Your brain doesn't hear when you break them, cos it's not aware of their presence. For instance in Polish we have a very powerful one, which is called final devoicing. You don't have it in English. We tend to pronounce every ending with a devoiced consonant. The pairs are: p and b, k and g... and so on Try it. The only difference is that for b and g you use your vocal cords. The rest stays completely the same. This way you get one of Polish accent traits. We sound like shssss shsss all the time. We say dock instead of dog. Bick instead of big. And even -ink instead of -ing in every word that ends so. Not many ppl is aware of breaking these rules, unless they're made aware of it.

When I hear immigrants with bad English accents, it isnt nails on a chalkboard for me... why is that? Why do Latinos hate gringo accents so much?

At least they took the time and effort to learn the language.

Creo que algunos acentos pueden considerarse sexi, dependiendo de lo que te parezca sexi. Es verdad que lo extranjero o distinto llama mucho la atención y la sensación de que alguien está intentando hablar tu idioma podría contribuir a esa atracción, ¿no?

He tenido el mismo pensamiento. Recibo tantas influencias que lo que digo es un fango de palabras. Pero, cada nativo con quien hablo dice que me puede entender, aunque hablo raro. Lo más importante es formar las oraciones correctamente. Y hablando de acentos, me doy cuenta que nunca voy a dejar de tener el acento estadounidense. Pero, me percato también que el acento es muy sexi por que es extraña. Las mujeres amaban a Ricardo Montelban.

I also wanted to say so. The diphthong нь in Russian sounds exactly like ñ in Spanish. You can also hear ñ in Russian syllables ня и ню. De hecho, Español es más fácil de pronunciar para los Rusos que para los Estadounidenses. I am Russian living in the US ☺️

Hola~ soy de tier guacamole y te recomiendo que elijas lo que está disponible acordando a tu tiempo libre, tus metas, y su dinero. Asisito a casi cada reunión y utilizo las transcripciones y guías, pero uso la llamadita más para chequear cositas de gramática y preguntitas. En mi opinión, estoy aprendiendo muy casualmente pero todavía con progreso visible y me encanta. 🥰 Ellos sugieren LenguaTalk también porque puedes hablar más profundo con nativos y tener ayuda específica a ti mismo y a tu horario. Sí, estoy de acuerdo con Okee. Creo que una lección de 1 hora te dará más oportunidad de preguntar cosas a tu profesor que 15 minutos con nosotros, pero igualmente desde el nivel de 7 usd puedes participar en conversaciones con otros estudiantes y nosotros, así que depende de lo que necesitas y quieres :) Siempre serás bienvenido.
