2:18 this part always gets me. The emotion in his face is just too real. Hozier is one of the greatest artists I known and that’s because he puts so much into his work that you just can’t help but feel moved, and I think this performance is the perfect example of it. Live versions of his songs are much better than studio recordings. At least for me. This is another proof of that. I don't know why it is. Maybe because the song is born alive every time anew? God, what incredible musicians in the new band. It's chemistry and magic and some kind of miracle. Thanks Andrew and guys.

The references to the original source material are so seamless and masterfully done: "hurricane," + the outro - don't know if I'm reaching but it sonically sounds like you're being swept away in circles. (For context, I'm assuming this based on Francesca from Dante's Inferno - a character featured in the 2nd circle of hell: lust, where souls are endlessly blown about in violent winds.)

You can actually notice the pain in his eyes, the way the lyrics are soooo meaningful, and maybe still hurting. Hozier delivered with so much passion... I can't stop thinking about this song since it's released. "Heaven is not fit house for a love like you and I" kept me awake last night. It's powerful but destructive, just as love might be sometimes. There's no way Hozier isn't the best we have. What a blessing to be alive and be able to hear his music. 🛐 And not related, but his hairstyle looks gorgeous on him!! Thanks to whoever made it!! ❤

This is instantly one of my favourite songs of all time. I assume it’s intentional but even if it’s not, one of my favourite characters from classical literature ever is Francesca da Rimini from Dante’s inferno who is in the second circle (lust) with her partner Paolo because she had a husband and fell in love with Paolo

Do you think I'd give up? That this might've shook the love from me Or that I was on the brink How could you think Darlin', I'd scare so easily? Now that it's done There's not one thing that I would change My life was a storm since I was born How could I fear any hurricane? If someone asked me at the end I'd tell them, "Put me back in it" (Da-ah, darlin') I would do it again (Ah-ah, ah-ah) If I could have you for a minute (Da-ah, darlin') I'd go through it again (Ah-ah, ah-ah) I would still be surprised I could find you, darlin' in any life If I could hold you for a minute (Da-ah, darlin') I would do it again (Ah-ah, ah-ah) For all that was said Of where we'd end up at the end of it When the heart would ceasе, eyes nevеr knew peace What good would it be on the far side of things? And it was too soon When that part of you was ripped away A grip takin' hold like a cancer that grows Each piece of your body that it takes Though I know my heart would break I'd tell them, "Put me back in it" (Da-ah, darlin') I would do it again (Ah-ah, ah-ah) If I could have you for a minute (Da-ah, darlin') I'd go through it again (Ah-ah, ah-ah) I would still be surprised I could find you, darlin' in any life If I could hold you for a minute (Da-ah, darlin') I would do it again (Ah-ah, ah-ah) I would not change it each time Heaven is not fit to house a love Like you and I (I've heard there's nothing to hurt) I would not change it each time Heaven is not fit to house a love Like you and I (I've heard there's nothing to hurt) I would not change it each time Heaven is not fit to house a love Like you and I

Everyone is citing 2:20 as being a sign of what this song means to him, and that is very true, but this moment at 1:50 tells me even more about how personal this seems to be for him that he needed to turn away seemingly to compose himself. I hope he has been able to heal from whatever made this song so powerful and emotional for him.

Every time I see the title of this video I get a shock cause my name is Francesca lol and what gets me the most is that I read the lyrics is inspired by the story of Paolo and Francesca, described by Dante. I am Italian so I'm very acquainted with the couple's story as almost every Italian is. It's a win-win and I literally get goosebumps when I listen to it, especially the part when he goes like "I could find you in any life", Hozier has such a way with words that leaves my bawling my eyes out every time😭

As someone who’s never listened through Hozier’s albums (I was converted by David La Chapelle’s video with Sergei) once but cherry picks around songs (only learned this week he had an album called Eden)…this song surprised me (hard to resist a lyrically dark, romantic theme). It sounds so familiar as an 80s rock anthem with a Cranberries feel. Stunning work on this one, really. Look forward to the album.

In awe of this man & his musical intuition & abilities. The clarity of this Jools performance delivers the message he intended straight home; oh my god. I was caught off guard especially at the outro where it shifts and goes into a discordant heavenly lift, nearly like Ásgeir Trausti might and just like Swan, I could feel a build up in the atmosphere, brimming over with emotion and I was brought to tears; I wept. Out of sorrow or beauty or all the depth of feeling that goes into the piece I'm not sure, but yes- Francesca has made itself a home in my heart as well now too. Andrew ((thank-you)) for sharing your art and your beautiful song babies. Went to a concert of his with my daughter and could litterally feel the love he spread that night. Positive vibes. ❤Francesca was my favourite song of the evening, though it was hard to choose.

Yes, Hozier is great. But the whole band's performance is phenomenal. Also, it looks like the bassist is an AOT fan😊

The very first time I heard this song it made me weep before I really knew the lyrics or backstory from Dante's Inferno it is at least partially inspired by (I don't know if there are other meanings of course). It makes me think of all the painful losses I've had or may have. He's right. I'd do it all over again.
