i know that i mean the man wrote a song inspired by dead bodies that were found near where he lives. i was more saying that it's really charming that he is so unapologetic about it. like he knows that some might find it disturbing or weird but he just smiles about it because its not something that really bothers him. also his smile is literal sunshine so there's that too lmao

My background is in bird ecology, and I love this song so much it hurts. Just devastatingly beautiful and poetic.
@perceptiveprof
@perceptiveprof 2 жыл бұрын
It's a symbiotic relationship the bird has with his thorns. They protect and feed, but ultimately, it is an inhospitable way to live. It is a metaphor for the ways in which unhealthily love feeds our desire, but at the expense of shredding our souls. Hozier alludes to a rebirth or reincarnation where he sees the thorns as glorious, like an awaking of spirit. I dunno, just musing.

My theory is he's from Westeros. He's Rhaegar Targaryen brought back to life by some red priest or priestess (like Jon Snow and Beric Dondarrion) and was immediately teleported via weirwood tree to our universe. Maybe the trip also gave him retrograde amnesia. Explains why we haven't seen him shirtless, since there's a gaping hole on his chest where Robert Baratheon hit him with a warhammer. Also why we haven't seen him anywhere near a harp because that would totally jog his mind about his past life.
