@@johnmightymole2284 Which is overwhelmingly the image everyone associates with Jesus. And I totally agree he was supposed to be Middle Eastern carpenter. He's not very likely to have had long brown hair or be "white". But I don't think the image in most people's minds is gonna change as much as the fat, jolly old white man in a red suit and snowy beard that is most people's image of Santa Claus. Even if originally St. Nick was a very skinny, dour looking Turkish dude.

What I want to say. I liked the interview. Non-trivial questions and meaningful answers. It was very interesting to get to know Andrew from the other side. It is interesting to listen to a person who is not indifferent to the fate of our world, his concern about the music industry and aspiring musicians. Find out how much he is immersed in the subtleties of the profession and tries to do everything himself, even in technical matters. Not boring at all, but very informative. I'm waiting for Andrew in a program about literature, about cars, or even on a cooking show. I am sure that it will also be interesting

yeah, sometimes people totally overreact, kinda getting lost in all those 'shits and giggles, he's got comments', which is indeed kinda irritating. But such warm but not fake and humble personalities combined with looks and huge talent are very rare, so tbh I'm not surprised the comments are like that. Girls (mostly) are just very much attracted to such an idea of a human being, which seems totally cool, at least from the distance. And the real people we mostly have around are those who work boring jobs, read nothing and listen to radio music. I have only such people around for example and gave up a long time ago on finding any friends really (not that i think I'm better than them, just not my world really). So i guess there might be more people feeling this kind of loneliness out there and filling the gap with their fav music, books and podcasts

Everything he talks about is lifted into the general, the conceptual or the 'cerebral' in a strangely neurotic way. That's great and all, but he is losing character and, funnily enough, warmth by referencing to something outside of himself all the time. We know that the days are merging because nothing is happening. We are all living it. ... how are YOU specifically dealing with it? What have YOU been up to at home? Hozier interviews are becoming lifeless because he is so extremely cagey about his person that he has a few specific "places" and variations of the same answer that he goes to every damn time. That's his prerogative, but stale AF! It sounds like he has even developed a stutter? out of fear of saying one thing wrong or being misunderstood in the slightest? I want to shake him!!! LOOSEN UP. Now, I'm a fan, but so sick of the arms-length approach he takes - even in his, what should be personal, songs. It makes them generic in spite of all the beautiful words and metaphors he can conjure up (not to say obfuscate with). Especially on his latest album. Rooting for Andrew and his talent, but goddamn!🤦🏽‍♀️

Jesus Christ chill out. Its a 30 minute interview over Zoom or whatever. He's not obligated to spill his guts, he's never really been that kind of person. Let the man live. If you're a fan of him as an artist that's all you're really gonna get. He'll answer questions the way he feels comfortable, and I doubt a comment like this will ever make him feel more comfortable opening up, because it just comes off as you trying to squeeze past his boundaries.
@sunmoon9574
@sunmoon9574 4 жыл бұрын
@@sunlightfire5925 Forget the interviews and lets focus on the songs. For all his amazing social awareness and wanting to be "honest", in its own way, Ariana Grande's 'thank u, next' was more radical, touching and brave than any of Hozier's new songs. Hozier has a problem in that area, but tries to make a virtue out of his obvious fear of true personal vulnerability. In the art itself!* See also: Cohen's Suzanne or Nina Simone's Mr. Bojangles. Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes etc. - it doesn't take hiding behind high language and 7 layers of metaphor to make something poignant and truly beautiful. Often the opposite. (*when asked about his own songs, he is quick to say that it is a "narrator" or an "imagined situation ha-ha." Fair enough, but he comes across as being downright embarrassed to identify with the sentiments of lyrics that HE himself wrote. "Talk", for instance.) Why do an interview only to paraphrase sociological or neuro-scientific theories, reference other contemporary artists and, once again, make sure that people know that he knows how fortunate he is. Hozier's wanting to be non-threatening and non-egoic is increasingly getting in the way of his ability to express himself in a relaxed manner. Lest he offend anyone, right? I agree with him politically, but always taking those things into consideration it is the death of good art. And conversation. And personality. I know that this is what we can expect from him. But I also know that he is not a fucking baby. Surely he is not going to feel "pushed" by one KZfaq comment alone. How fragile do you think he is?! The cushioning and cooing and dehumanising meming around this 30-year-old capable man is absurd.

Some people have the talent of expressing their deepest self/ soul through art and have trouble expressing themselves through words. I think he does fine through words yet I feel it's because he is such an old soul/ has such depth that conveying it through words is next to impossible, where when you listen to his music you already know the amazing soul he is.

@@sunmoon9574 Have you thought that maybe that's just who he is as a person, that he expresses things through music but prefers his personal life remain private?? Why are you so personally offended by how he acts in interviews? I'm not suggesting we coddle famous artists, but I do think you need to take a few steps back and examine why it bothers you so much that a complete stranger isn't being "honest" with you in exactly the way you desire. I'm genuinely not trying to be combative, I just think you might be invested in this to a degree that will only lead to disappointment for you.

I thought Click was a fairly sharp production group, but when you can't even do a standard opening and introduce your guest, well, you're out. WHY do you insist on wearing your personal mic much too far from your lips?? Just tossing professional procedure out, eh? Don't care about being heard well, eh? You get credit when you do shows of quality, not poop. You're dropping the ball. Stop it! You're bothering professional production people. CARE! Do better! Sheesh!
