The crackling of the firepit accompanied the background interference coming through the speaker. How the battered old radio could pick up a signal this far into the woods, you didnt know. You kept to the clearing for the leg room, setting up your camp and enjoying the proceeding sunset without cause for concern. But then the night came, and you found yourself growing uneasy. The wildlife had all gone quiet. Unnaturally so. You brushed it off as a bobcat or other small predator roaming about. Nothing you need worry about, unless it was rabid. The music hung heavy in the still air, and you could swear you saw shadows shifting in the dark. Again you reassured yourself. You had a hunting rifle at your side, and a clean line of sight over the clearing. Plenty of distance between you and the treeline. A shift in the air, a sudden breeze carrying a foul scent, shattered that small sense of security in an instant. You saw it just past the treeline, a dark shape with gleaming eyes a grown man's height above the forest floor, and you clambered for your rifle. When you lifted the barrel, it was gone. Moonlight breached the clouds, and you could see the mess of ink black blood all over the place it had been, only a fraction of a second before. As the closing verse floated off into the night, you heard the growling so very close behind you. Even as you turned to take aim, you already knew it was far, far too late.

I’m seeing all these comments about creepy coincidences happening and then there’s me, listening to this for the fifteenth time, fully expectant that some supernatural spook happens at 1:00 pm in the middle of the day in my safe and secure bedroom. This is a great idea.

There was something... enthralling about the music. Phoebe had tried to pull Kellan away, but it was as though they were glued in place. Strangely, Phoebe is completely unaffected. Then, the song ends, and Kellan blinks. And something is different about them now. Whatever that thing did to them, Phoebe prays that it isn't permanent.
