A metaphor for mortality, existence, and love all wrapped into one beautiful and challenging spiritual song, that possibly only an Irishman born of immortal suffering might offer up on the alter of "modern music" and for all eternity to be so humble as to suggest that no matter what, love is the one immortal common nature we dare to share in the face of forever existent judgment....

aria15 here is one for you to remember And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple, but now that it's done I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world by Bernie Taupin -Elton John Your Song 1970 ALL there is to know by Terrance Hill You left me with all the sadness, all that a man can bear, I am wandering in a wilderness of self despair Is there any other moment, I can go out on my own, All the holes are gaped and bleeding; I couldn’t take care of all that on my own… These prayers gather and I seem to repeat myself every day, They are bottled up inside me; I put them there on my own Blue bottles line the oak shelf you gave me for my birthday, There is a small heart in colored pen drawn on the back All these fires that I started, did you realize they weren’t all mine, It’s a no fault occurrence, there are others involved Here we stand before s tidal wave, singing songs we composed in our last thoughts Spilling over into tomorrow of the last day holding us together in the final hour I opened up a box of butterflies You watched on as I smiled and played the Montana guitar Rick built as they all passed from view Surely I am never in one place or haunting a place more than a moment or two The days of autumn are fleeing with the butterflies as they move into forever If I ever see you again, please pretend you never have known me There are places in the heart where what is lost forever, is my last place to be me There never is an absence of understanding, a kind word or palace of peace The fool never realizes how love may be lost so easily, because of the fragile beings we are There are strawberries in the garden, a melon colored sky in the afternoon They are questioning the faith in what we are, the song written so lovingly and is now gone Feel the warmth of the exiles as they hide where once we lay There a red plaid blanket lying on the forest floor that we claimed to be ours. For now its only a cry lost to the wind in another time passed into the clouds of yesterday

Boys workin on empty Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat? I just think about my baby I'm so full of love I could barely eat There's nothing sweeter than my baby I never want once from the cherry tree Cause my baby's sweet as can be She give me toothaches just from kissin me [Chorus:] When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her That's when my baby found me I was three days on a drunken sin I woke with her walls around me Nothin in her room but an empty crib And I was burnin up a fever I didn't care much how long I lived But I swear I thought I dreamed her She never asked me once about the wrong I did [Chorus 2x] My baby never fret none About what my hands and my body done If the Lord don't forgive me I'd still have my baby and my babe would have me When I was kissing on my baby And she put her love down soft and sweet In the lowland plot I was free Heaven and hell were words to me [Chorus 2x]

Okay so I don't know if you guys get this feeling when a song or voice is so good it's just this feeling in your stomach and you're just like "God damn that's real" I don't know I could cry and smile and cry again because of his music and the vocals and his background music and his voice in general and yeah this performance is my favorite I don't know there was a lot of emotion in the way he sung this song. His hands were shaking a lot and his facial expressions were different which was perfectly fine and his voice was absolutely brilliant and just magnificently beautiful.

the beauty this man carries brings tears to my eyes he is so soulful and he just oozes pure and raw talented there are SO many musicians that get major attention for singing about ass, hoes, money, strippers, and other pointless things and then there are the very few artist like Hozier here who aren't super mainstream but have actual talent and deserve just as much scratch that more recognition than others aside from him having the gifted voice he has his songs are so powerful and filled with so much passion and MEANING i just cant get enough of him found him a year and a half ago and my love for Andrew is still going strong probably stronger than it was i the beginning

my goodness he's incredible! i heard take me to church months ago and thought it was an alex clare song. i heard someone talking about the real meaning of the song and what it represented so i looked it and woah! it wasn't alex clare at all, it was hozier! he's a new, indie artist who sings blues and it irish? i couldn't help myself so i checked out his album and fell completely head over heals in love with not only his voice, but the sensuality and soul of his lyrics. what an incredible talent and at only 24 years old? he sings the songs of a wise man with a lifetime full of heartache and love. thats not something that can be taught. im ashamed at myself for waiting so long to look him up and missing out on an opportunity at seeing him live seeming as he will be in the bay are for three dates next year and all of his shows are completely sold out! truely amazing

This song would’ve made an amazing video in the perspective of an old time prisoner working on the railroads. I can just visualize it beautifully!

This is why I love music. It's finding one song amongst the 1000s of sh1t that's out there which is powerful, beautiful and haunting all at the same time. Shivers with every listen.

I'm shattered. He looks like he's holding back tears. Is he okay? I just want to give him a huge hug. I just wonder what a person has to go through to write like that.
