I have a couple of 8350B mainframes and some plug-ins - I don't know if any of the pieces work and what leaped to mind was the only saying about a man with two clocks never being sure of the time. Let's take a look at what I have.

Two 8350Bs and several plug-ins is a nice problem to have! Looking forward to the repair videos.

Thanks - I'm hoping that the overload issue is simply the plug-in requiring adjustment but I suspect that it is more than that given the power output.

Hi Tony - I enjoyed you setting out the issues with your various 8350B plug-ins - you have quite an impressive collection! I have a ALC problem with my 83592C - these plugins are quite complex so I’m really looking forward to you getting into more details in your upcoming episodes.

Thanks - I'll be looking into the 83522A first as that one at least has output - Next would be assembling the parts I have and seeing what happens...

@@tgsoapbox Also, you can do some test in the waveguide plugin, using the aux output at the back of the unit, until you get an waveguide adapter. It has fixed power available but you can check frequency and sweep of the internal oscillator. Good luck!

@@rrb6544 Thanks for the tip - I was thinking about just intercepting the output before it gets to the waveguide adapter as it looks like standard SMA or APC 3.5 connectors there.

Might want to check the memory backup batteries in these units. Consist of 2 AA Nicads if I remember. I have two for these units myself. Also have had tag tantalums go s/c.

Hello, I'm a subscriber from Río de Janeiro and found this video very interesting. Have a 8350B and a 20 Gs plug-in for more than 30 Years. Until lately no major troubles with the equipment (just replacing those tantalum capacitors from time to time) but recently appeared a leveling problem and looks like it is not inside the feedback loop...So here I'm banging my head to discover what is defective. Looking forward for more videos on the subject. With regards, Juan.

Thanks - Sorry to hear about the unit - I'm going to start with the 83522A first as it was "working" or at least putting out a signal - I assume you have the 83592A plug-in?

Been thinking of getting one of these myself. I don't have anything that will go above 2060 MHz, I have the same counter but the 20 GHz version (5350B).

They're good units and you can partner them up with the 8757 Scalar analyzer (assuming you get get the sensor heads). I have to do a repair video on the frequency meter as it keeps blowing fuses but seems to work fine. I'm wondering if I might be seeing a little RIFA madness...
