Hi Timothy. I am trying to get deeper technical information about HP latex printers since I am taking a decision between Roland eco-solvent and HP latex. I used to be a system engineer for networking stuff, going deep in protocol stacks, so, that's the kind of information I really like to have. I loved to learn what optimizer does. I am trying to understand how reliable is the HP latex 315 print is, but I didn't get any information about that. The Roland has a great reputation in terms how robust are their products, but, I don't find anything about the HP latex printers. My understanding is that the latex technology is still new, and HP is learning quickly new issues about that, and so, fixes are dependable on lauching new hardware/solution to address those issues. So, this can be a big problem to me to buy HP because I still don't feel confortable with quality/stability of the technology itself. So, if you have any other great videos like this that I should be aware of, please, let me know. TIA. Alexandre Veneziano

HP latex tech is now 10+ years old, the first generation had a few very minor niggles that were mostly sorted with the 300 series, and even more so with the newer 3X5 and 500 series. I have been using two HP360 with each over 50km of printing with very little issues, I think I once needed a fan replacement, and a belt broke once, I've only seen about 4-5 days down time in their life. The service schedule replaces any parts that may fail with age/wear well before they're likely to.

With this information I find it surprising that the media preset for HP Everyday Satin Photo on HP Media Finder has a default optimizer level of 24? I've had technicians working on the machine stating that it should ideally be around 12? I find it difficult to rely on the Media Finder at times when settings there are so different than what technicians specify? @4:30

Excellent video Timothy. I have one question, is that chart for the optimizer in any part of the printer or where can I get it. We had a few issues with a vinyl. It looks like some "pixels where not print. The printed are really new, no more than 775ml each, and we already made a printerhead cleaning and alignment. Could be the optimizer?

Was thinking about getting an HP but this sounds complicated. Maybe I should stick to a roland or mimaki.

Did you buy a Mimaki? I'm in the same position. Mimakis are reasonably priced. I like the white, orange and silver ink options. The light black does improve the grayscale images a lot. Ink is more expensive though.

We have an HP Latex 365 and is awesome! It seems difficult, but is really simple. The 365 does everything for you. The Temp, Ink load and Passes are really easy to use and the maintenance is really fast and easy.
