Hello everyone, in this video we are going to visualize the protection of the main armor in the game, comparing them to the life it would take to withstand the same amount of damage without armor.

Then, we will get the number of HP of the armor, and a precise idea of how different the portection is.
an example?
who can survive to the most damages:
A full iron armor player,
OR a player with a health boost of 24 total hearts? they can take the exact same amount of damage.
How much health does a protection 4 diamond armor have in addition to a protection 2?
almost twice as much.
all data in the video was obtained by in-game testing and confirmed by a calculation using the damage calculation formula, taken from the wiki and combined with an enchanting damagereduction formula.

this experiment was carried out by considering 1 damage atk = 1hp
and by dealing damage to the armor 1hp by 1hp.
this makes it possible to compare the armors precisely with each other,
however, armor penetration mechanics are minimized as they have an effect proportional to the amount of damage dealt by the hit.
This will therefore have to be taken into consideration compared to the most powerful swords in the game.
(Reminder: armor penetration removes 0.5 point of armor for each attack damage inflicted by the hit, with a maximum of 80% of the armor. Armor toughness reduces this penetration to -0.25 points armor / damage for diamond and -0.20 armor / damage for netherite.
this difference in armor toughness, for only 1 atk damage, results in a difference in protection between diamond and netherite of 0.9615%, but, under normal PVP conditions with weapons between 10 and 27 attack damage, netherite protects between 8 and 12% more than the equivalent diamond armor, and can go UP to over 17% around 60 damage in a single hit. maybe in the future we will make a video about the exact percentage of protection difference between diamond and neerite armor at each level of damage.

For the other viewers, do not forget that the damage reduction decreases the more damage the attack would deal if you have low armor points

Yes the armor penetration mechanic, is to take in consideration. Itself affected by armor toughness And it can "negate" up to 80% of your armor points at maximum. Each point giving 4% damage reduction for a total of 80 with full diamond armor. Protection enchantment damage reduction, who also reduce damages by 4% by level, for a vanilla maximum of 80% too with full protection 4, Are NOT decreased by armor penetration mechanics. Sp theorically extremely high damages on maxed armor, Will still give you the 80% damage reduction of the enchantment, But penetrate up to 80%(capped) of your armor points, and only leave you with a 16% damage reduction. And to end the remaining damagzs are reeuced by 20% by level of resistance of a beacon is there. Up to 40% in vanilla But because of how dependant of your armor type, the weapon used, strenght or not, critical hit or not, etc, To give this kikd of data you have no choice but to or choose 1 atk damage like here, Or one random higher but who will not be a general truth either. Its the best compromise i guess

very niche vid, because armor loses some efficiency against dmg values way higher vs lower. For example, if you wear leather armor, and get hit with a wooden sword, you take 3.1 points of damage. But if you get hit with a netherite sword instead, its 7.04 points of damage instead. It lowers the dmg by a percent, but the higher it goes, the lower it goes. Armor toughness minimizes that percent drop scaling. Hence why netherite is better than diamond. Idk what damage value he is using, but it would have to be very low so that all these armor sets are proven very effective. If you got prot4 full netherite, the warden on hard that does 45 dmg still does 9 dmg to you a hit. Making 260 look more like just over 100 instead. Don't get me wrong, it is a good question to ask yourself if a really high lvl of prot on iron is worth, it really depends on what you are being hit with.

This isnt really that much accuarate. Armor penetration is way too high even on mediun damage attacks. Protection is OP btw

yes, because of the armor penetration mechanic who reduce effective armor for high damages. that's why i take 1 damage attacks as a reference for the data. i could make another one using 10 damage as reference, or 20. but for any amount results would be different that's why i decided to take 1 damage attacks ( fist hits) as reference even if that minimise the armor penetration effect

No because in minecraft the higher the damage the higher the armor penetration. armor penetration is reduced by armor toughness but really high damages are still effective. Armor penetration can remove up to 80% of armor ( but can't reduce the protectio nenchantement effect) maybe i could do a video on that to explain the mechanic
