I used this video to refit a dv8t-1200 and it was immensely helpful. My only criticism is the rather haphazard way the screws were NOT organized which was a bit of a problem when it came time to reassemble this thing, but I'm grateful that this resource was there for me. Thank You Gonly.

I'm a little late in replying to the comment. Fortunately, most of the screws are the same on this laptop. Now I'm just looking at the difference between the DV8-1269ez and the dv8t-1200. That model also came with an i7-820QM processor. For your model, they also write that it works with 16gb 2x8gb ram, if that's the case, it works and I have to test it on mine to see if it's correct.

Just finished using your video to upgrade my CPU from a Q 720 to a Q 840 ($40 on eBay) - worked great, booted up to Windows 7 like a champ. Thanks a million - couldn't have done it without ye! 💖 🇨🇦

Can you upgrade all the way up to the 940XM? It's the same family of processors.

I just today gave it a new term past and polish the copper parts from the cooler like mirrors. Why I did this all? Well the computer freezes all the time after some periode of 5 min. That is now perm fixed. Good handout tool, all the screws are back in it.

I was lucky to find this video as I am using it to upgrade a dv8t-1200 from an i7-720QM to an i7-840QM. I will update you as to how it goes.😉🤔😁 The operation was successful but I hasten to add that cleaning the CPU and heatsinks with a screwdriver or any other metal implement is a dubious practice @ best as you risk scratching the delicate surfaces.

A plastic scraper would be a better idea on those copper heatplates it doesn't take much to scratch the surface.

To get keyboard out, must I remove screws under it first? How many and wich? :) I just wanna see what keyboard I got to get correct new one. Hope I dont must remove all screws but just the one holding the front in place. Maybe no screws at all if lucky.

soni chirag Yes of course you can put 2.5 ssd when you take out one hdd.

Hi Gonly, I also followed you step by step, but I got a problem with my screen now, and no way to fix it, I disassembled it twice again, the same way you did, and it doesn't work :( , also I spoke with two technicians and asked about, and they cannot solve the problem, any idea? I had a dual Osystem, windows and linux mint, now if I connect the laptop to my tv, it shows only the logo for linux mint, but doesn't work after this.

if it does not provide the image on the vga monitor. check ram cpu and cooler. if still no image is most likely a problem in the nvidia 230 gpu chip.
