Thank you for another interesting video and glad to have you back! I agree with you about the manuals, lots of good information in those theory of operation sections. I recently finished repairing an HP 5350B that uses the same harmonic heterodyne technique - I was very lucky to find a working sampler for the front end which was damaged. I also added new and slightly brighter LEDs to the display.

I replaced the broken gate control on a 5342A in a video some time ago, the actual pot value wasn’t that important if I remember rightly, looks like you just need a knob for it.

Yep - Haven't looked for a replacement yet but I have the manual so I can look up the actual part number and see what comes up out there.

I had bad tantalum caps in both the 5342A I worked on, my guess would be that needed them replaced too
