This is my first HPI, so how will it fair? This is the micro twin vertical plate design HPI Savage XS Flux running with 3s lipo.
I've not filmed anything from HPI for nearly 10 years now however I saw this model and really liked the paint design. It's super fast!

I've owned the regular version of this truck and tore the body up fifteen minutes of having it cause I couldn't keep the front end down and blew the tires in four days thanks to alot of donuts, bought new tires and a week in a half later snapped both back dog bones or drive shafts, moved my front ones to the back and kept going, bought a new El Camino body and almost wore it out in a week. To sum it up, it was the BEST rc I've ever had. Savage, Insane, Too powerful, Wild, Beast, these are just a few words that come close to describing this little bundle of joy.

Truck is great, the electronics not so much. I swapped out the crumby servo with a nice Savox and the ESC with a Hobbywing Max10. Also added 15k diff fluid to front/30k to rear. Shock oil to 35w. The truck is now a BEAST!

Very different vehicles - Slash is much bigger to start with - the Stampede 4x4 would be closer in size, but that is already quite a bit bigger, and then the Slash is an extended version of the Stampede chassis. The Savage XS is extremely fast on 3s, which unfortunately is actually too fast for a lot of people. That said, if you can put the time in to get used to it, it’s a fantastic truck and lots of fun. Besides, you can always run it on 2S :) I use my Slash Platinum (4x4 with LCG chassis) for tracks/jumps and the Savage xs for pure bashing. Both are great.

Isaac Lyons Kind of - the biggest difference is that the e-revo vxl is a 1/16 scale truck so its parts are basically miniaturized versions of what you see on the full size e-revo. With the Savage XS the parts are essentially still 1/10th scale, but all packed into a smaller chassis. Both have their own benefits, and they have similarities in terms of their uses, but I wouldn’t say they directly compete as they are quite different.

Savage xs without a doubt u won't regret it.

The E revo VXL is a fantastic little car which is clearly engineered very well with extremely well thought out mechanical designs (obviously based on the larger model)... but is very clearly a 1/16th model.. The Savage XS on the other hand uses 1/10 scale parts (and wheels) so it looks like a 1/10 truck squashed down to a smaller chassis. Both are great - the E-revo is easier to control to keep in a straight line but flips very easily with the huge power (especially on two batteries), where as the Savage XS is similarly easy to flip/roll but doesn’t hold a straight line as well... changing servos may help with this but it’s a very short wheelbase on relatively large tires so it spins quite easily too. If you’re buying it because it’s small, the e-revo is definetely easier to fit in a bag, but overall I would say it comes down to personal taste but my preference is probably the Savage with it’s larger scale parts. The biggest downside to the Savage XS though is that it’s much more fiddly/complicated to work on compared to the E-revo as a lot of its parts are tucked behind panels and other parts.

I totally agree with everything you said, the Savage is very hard to work on when you want to replace something or fix something. Maybe it's just me but when I fixed something on my Savage I kind of built a relationship with it and loved it even more. No doubt the E-Revo is a great car and if you have the money get both. Me personally If I had to choose one I'd choose the Savage Everytime. Again my personal opinion, if you don't have fun with the Savage you so don't like RC's lol, and just to clarify by (YOU) I mean anyone not just one person.

Savage xs, sold my first one when I got tired of it mauling the driveline, tried a bunch of others then bought another xs. Still have it now and it's used regular animal on 3s but it eats itself alive regardless of HD cups/ uj's even with full punch control.

You tricked me into getting a slash 4x4. liked it at first loved it actually, my esc burned out and esc fan, axels are pure trash, tiers are terrible, would not recommend, consider a tekno mt410 or something not traxxas just can’t handle the power that they can take.

Gareth, if you think the slash 4x4 is a great truck, me and you have different definitions of great. And if this hobby is just buying some bad quality over priced stuff then I won’t do it, but I’m still going to give the hobby another shot, but most likely never traxxas, going to get a real quality truck this time a mt410.

The hobby is also about finding what company suites your needs and traxxas with the slash 4x4 did that but just didn’t have the durability I was looking for, then my esc burned out, that’s not part of the hobby, replacing bad quality expensive parts. I used tekno driveshafts on my slash 4x4 and was very satisfied with the quality and thought I saw was put into their product, and that’s why I’m going to get tekno mt410, something that was made for a real hobby enthusiast, not a 13 year old boy spending all his time on KZfaq and gets a slash 4x4 just because it looks cool, then wasting his parents money to keep it running because of the low quality parts.

T2NATE VIDEOS Everyone obviously has different experiences, but I’ve had my Slash Platinum for 3 years and bash it hard, still running strong.

GrrArrgC there is no way that you ran it for 3 years and didn’t break a plastic driveshaft, do you they made that design before the 2000s
