How to connect your Panasonic HPX170 or HVX200 to your iPhone using the Lightning to camera adapter. You need to be on the latest iOS version for this to work.

Works with android too! Could review footage on my phone and back it up. Just need a USB B, to USB A, then a USB A to USB C adaptor and boom.

IMO though this is quite a process to go through. And the money for that dongle you could easily buy another P2 card

@@BenJonesVideographer does android allow playback of MXF files natively? I agree about the process and stuff though. I’ve been trying to research ways to better “future proof” these cameras since no one has cracked the P2 card format yet. Once someone figures out how to make 3rd party cards. Stuff like this won’t be as necessary.

@@strawberrysuperglue with VLC it plays back fine. And unfortunately you'd need someone with a mega wrinkly brain to crack a 3rd party P2 card. That thing is raided together in such a way that even replacing the internal SD cards with different would cause it to fail. You'd have to reverse engineer the entire thing

@@BenJonesVideographer Yeahh. I’ve unfortunately done it myself using a 4gb P2 card and tried to use original Panasonic SD cards and replaced all of cards inside. I felt very dumb… I even got laughed out of a Raid0 sub Reddit for posting about it, thinking I had a chance :,,)

Is there no way to watch the clips after getting them on your iPhone?
@FacesOfLA

So ok you transferred them. Now what? Can you open the files through In-shot? iMovie? Or ? …. Because from my understand on Final Cut Pro you would have to drag all the contents into the program. Would like to see how you can transfer to a IPhone Video editing software

So I recently found out that iPhone has a mobile version of VLC player on the App Store. You can play the raw MXF files straight on your phone (no audio) just like on a windows computer.

So if I want to transfer the files to my computer from my iPhone will there be any audio problems or sync issues if not you have saved me soooo much money and time
@strawberrysuperglue
@strawberrysuperglue Жыл бұрын
@@COURTYARD2024 as long as you keep your contents file and lastclip.txt file together the whole time there shouldn't be any problems. Anytime I have ran into an issue with the transfer, like the audio was missing or something. I would re-transfer again from my phone/icloud and it would fix its self.

@@strawberrysuperglueI can confirm that this works. In VLC, you need to go to the Network tab and select Local Files, browse to where you saved them and kaboom, they play. This is a great little discovery you’ve made here. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can setup a shared folder on your network that the Files app can get to and use the iPhone as a conduit to transfer files back to your editing machine. I have an FS-100 that does all of this directly over firewire, but the battery is shot and no replacement is available, so this is a viable alternative for me. Thanks!

I did see beagle’s HVX205 but the main reason I painted it and polished the handle was because it was all banged up when I bought it. I thought, I might as well give it a custom paint job 😅 I’m still kinda on the process of refurbishing it though

Do you know if the 64gb p2 card will work in the hvx200?
@strawberrysuperglue
@strawberrysuperglue 7 ай бұрын
Yes, it absolutely will. HVX and HPX have the same P2 compatibility. The bigger cards however... like the 250gb and even the "P2 to SD card" adapter will unfortunately not work with hvx and hpx.

Ive heard of it being done with an android. You would need an HDMI dongle that accepts an input signal. I dont think that Iphone's thunderbolt would allow that.
