MFJ can provide you everything from amplifiers to antenna tuner‘s from antennas to noise cancelers.
Find out more about all that MFJ can for you, to improve your shack at this link: mfjenterprises.com
An IMPORTANT NOTE: When giving a “Signal Report” on CW, the correct way to provide it is “599” not “59” as shown in this video. Thanks to Wayne, KI4UYA for bringing me that information. Also, when using “CW mode“ whether your screen says “CW-U” or “CW-L” you’ll still receive the signal just fine but just at a different pitch. Thank you again Wayne for your help. MUCH LOVE and RESPECT for CW Operators!
This video describes how to store CW messages into the memory of a Yaesu 101D or MP.

I enjoy your videos Larry. I will have to try this whenever my 101D comes back from Yaesu. 73 from Indiana. Bill

Bill, thank you so much for writing in! It’s truly a pleasure to say hello. Thank you as well for your kind words. You have bought the best transceiver in my opinion out there today. You absolutely have. What did Yaesu do on it? Did you add some filters? Take care of Bill and thank you again. Let me know about what you did… I’ll be interested to know how you like it. Larry

@@HamRadioLiveShow The radio would not work if both VFOs were set to the same antenna. I could use one or the other, but could not work split. Sent it back to Yaesu 4 or 5 weeks ago and have not heard back yet. Talked on the phone with Tim at Yaesu several times and couldn't get things to work right. Will be glad to get it back. I still have an FTDX-3000 and a TS-890S, so I am still on the air while it's gone. Good DX Larry. 73 Bill AB9QU

Tim is a good guy. I like him very much. Looks like you’ve got some great rigs already in place there! The 3000 has always had a soft spot in my heart. Excellent receiver… Very much like the 5000 is but with much fewer buttons and knobs. I sure loved mine. When you get back you’ll have quite a stable there of really great transceivers Bill. The very best of DX to you… 20 m has been outstanding at night lately. Some excellent DX there. All my best to you and yours my friend and thank you again for contacting me. Larry

Tentec used to have trx which directly sends cw while typing on a keyboard (so not in memory). I am not aware if any other trx could do that nowadays? Tnx for your video(s) 73 bob

I have yet to find a transceiver capable of reliably decoding the real Morse code from the real noise on the air. Even the expensive radios do the job poorly, unfortunately. So it's best of all to learn the code, even at low pace it will bring you more joy than trying to understand the garble from the machine decoding. Else, In CW you send RST ( Readability, Strength , Tone) for signal evaluation, in SSB only RS. You also don't send full words normally since it takes too much of time, there are abbreviations used like Q-code or just widely accepted ham abbreviations. Instead of sending "thank you for the contact" you send "tnx fer QSO". "I am using transceiver ..." = "my rig is...", "my ant is..." , "the weather in my location "= "wx hr" , " Good luck and see you later "= GL CUL, and so on... Hve fun, CU on CW! 73! Linas LY2H

ON the CW Message Memory how is the "DEC 0001" button used? Mine seems to do nothing but beep! Thank you!

Hi Michael, I’m not sure on this one. I don’t have the 101 any longer. I’m sure that Yaesu customer service would be happy to help you with this. Sorry I don’t remember I thought that button my friend. Larry

So you need to edit the memory each time for new qso, seems like thus would be too slow sending cw if you have to edit a memory each time

You have to put it into the memory channel if your choice my friend. Once you finish it I believe there is a “donel button on the screen. It’s been a long time since I’ve done this. Select that button and you should be good to go. The instruction manual will show it. As I recall there is a button on the bottom which says “finishef”or “done.“

On the rig, go to "CW Setting" Then "Keyer,' Then pick any of the 5 CW text boxes to type your message. Thats it. I don't do CW as I stated on the show... This rig sends CW like many other manufacturers do theirs... through a non volatile memory in the transceiver. You can type your message and send it out. No way I will produce a show doing this, as I don't understand Morse (but am trying) and the show wouldn't come out well... If you can't understand what you're hearing you can't reply to it. Make sense? If you're interested in learning CW and need a "decoder" to read it, maybe look into a Yaesu 450D. It has a pretty solid CW trainer built in. I have yet to see a solid CW Decoder on ANY RIG that is user friendly and works well. Thanks for watching, Larry de K7HN
