As a CM local I strongly disagree. And trust me my people do so too. Do you know why Lanna annexed with Siam? At the time when Burma ruled Lanna 2nd times, it's the Lanna dynasty who want to be free from Burma since, unlike the 1st time you did which you only keep theym as vessel state -- only need to send you tributes, you wanted Lanna to be your base to attack Siam, hence you took back almost everything they make. That's why they joined with Siam to expel Burma. Search the history of Lanna. Modern history based on records and eviedences not just from 1st or 2nd party but also others like -- for example based on this case -- Chinese/Indian merchants/emissaies's diaries/reports they sent back to their own land to manage with their policy against Siam and Lanna and other countries involved, Western mossionaries records, etc. All recorded the same. Search. Don't think out of nothing. That's blind and stupid and it reflects who you are -- how well you are educated and your background. I would give you some keywords: Tipchak Dynasty or 7 princes. This is the princes of Lanna who threw away Burma rulers by asking for support from King Taksin of Siam in 1744. Even today the military camp in CM is named "Kawila Camp" Again you can search by using the name on google. Kawila is King Kawila, the leader of the 7 princes. Do you think Siam of TH would named their camp after their enemy? Also if youare in CM you'll see the "White Chedi" in the middle of the road on the Ping River just down from the Nakhorn Ping Bridge. Do you know its history? Search on the net and read if needed. Not to talk that these people in TH are all mingle with others and live peacefully for centuries. Some even escape from Burma due to conflict not just recently but almost century ago. For example I have 2 of my teacher who came from Burma because 1. they are both Christians and your country at that time would not accept them. Even today those who are not Buddhists would treated diferently from other. See Rohingya for exmaple. Remember that TH and also Lanna are mixed with many different group including Christian and Muslim. (Search for "ชุมชนมุสลิมจีนในเชียงใหม่ ชาติพันธุ์ ศาสนา และการรักษาอัตลักษณ์" and "คนซิกข์และฮินดู : อัตลักษณ์ ความสัมพันธ์และวัฒนธรรมล้านนา" for example. you might not understand Thai but at least the pic would show you the idea. Think you can live peacefully with them? i don't think so. Again Rohingya and many thnics groups in your lands are a good sample. 2. one of teacher is Burmese Indians. Search wht you did to them. That's why they escape to TH, earn their citizenship, and become one of us. History is history. I would not want to resuscitate the past. Just want to correct anything that is misunderstanding. To love your country is a good thing sir/ms. But to blindly love in anything is very unwise. And if you look down by others because you make something unwise, don't balme them. You make them look at you that way yourself.
