I loveded how Toothless isn't instant friends with Hiccup just because he got set free, Toothless did warn Hiccup how easily he could have killed him, but didn't, showing the same empathy and mercy Hiccup showed him. Hiccup sumed all his empathy and guilt with "I did this" he didn't see the demons that his tribe told him, he saw a terrified animal that was helpless. when Hiccup went to see Toothless in his little valley, Toothless looked at him as if you could hear him saying "Look what you did to me" and Hiccup felt genuine guilt that he crippled this creature. Hiccup also made him a new tail when he overheard Gobber talking about how helpless a downed dragon was, and Toothless didn't instantly trust him there either, he threw Hiccup off.

Now I want you redesign the human characters into being actual characters and not cardboard cut-outs that existed in every 80s cartoon

They should’ve just done a series with Hiccup and Astrid’s kids. I mean, they already established them in the main universe and we’d have a tie back to the original cast and everything. It would’ve been much more fun and entertaining to watch them meet the dragons and shit like that. But, unfortunately that isn’t what we got and I’m so disappointed. This show is disappointing and awkward, it was horrible and I’m so fucking offended just like you. Just horrible.

This is what they should’ve done: 1. Make the Plowhorn a relative of the Rumblehorn (since both have beetle-like features) 2. Make Feathers a Amphithere instead of a basic dragon 3. Try something different altogether with Wu and Wei then making them a Chinese Zippleback Ripoff 4. They should’ve tried to make Thunder and Tom’s friendship feel earned, not just make it happen right away

Fun fact in the original dragon legends the number of limbs (IE: 4 legs 2 wings, 2 wings 2 legs) was not important for distinguishing dragons from wyverns. Dragons or Wyverns could have any number of limbs. What distinguished them was that dragons breath fire, while wyverns were venomous and spit acid.

going from two disabled main characters (hiccup + toothless) to one extra in a wheelchair just feels like a step back. i know it's not the main feature of the series but i connected to it and really considered the representation a main part of the httyd charm.

The best headcanons I could come up with for how the 'night fury' looks like and why it has a lightning breath is: Theory 1.) Some night lights bred with skrills to continue the black/dark colouring, while some preferred the similar lightfuries, and over the generations they started to disperse due to over population Theory 2.) There are multiple hidden worlds, and each have their own type of 'night fury' The one we see in the third movie is the one containing lightfuries (hanse why we see multiple in the movie) and Grimmel only got the nightfuries in another one Theory 3.) {The worst one} ...incest...

seeing how toothless was the last night fury and the light fury was also the last of her kind, they must have gone through a lot of inbreeding and the night light in the show does look inbred.

this tv show gave me a vibe from the Spirit series (that horse movie), I know I'm not part of the target audience, but this one and the dragons one gave me this vibe of "ah, create a new series with a new story involving this theme? nooooo, let's create a low quality series about these hits and that old fans will be offended!!

I think the new dragons should've a way more similar to the old ones, only several hundred years passed between HTTYD 3 and Nine Realms. It takes thousands of years, sometimes millions, for evolution and natural selection to change an animal species. These new dragons look almost nothing like the old ones. Did their water get pumped full of mutagen ooze?

With Wu and Wei, I just hate the coloring for the most part. It also didn't look like their two heads could even fit on that body. They have short necks and long faces, it just didn't look proportioned right I appreciate the attempt of introducing other cultural dragons, because honestly yeah most of the dragons in the series are just really Nordic, European based, and that can get tiring pretty quickly. They just aren't executed well when they could have. Almost like they were afraid of actually including diversified takes of dragons Like with Feathers, while I see it in the coloring, there's not many other elements of a Quetzalcoatl Wu and Wei look more like European dragons with just odd coloring choices Maybe it's also the timing of these characters finding their dragon partners. I can definitely see if these characters just randomly spotted the dragons and took interest because they look like the dragons from their cultures. But instead they just have these very well timed encounters It would have been especially cool if the Dragons Lair was shown to be connected to different parts of the world, so dragons of different cultures could occassionly cross paths, idk they could have made it make sense somehow

I look at the scene where Tom is falling and Thunder is saving him, httyd 1 ending style and I just kinda cry inside and die. They robbed that beautiful, special, and sad scene, with a grossly underdeveloped relationship between Tom and Thunder.

Imagine if the series ended with Hiccup waking up and saying “Phew, it was just a dream”

sometimes, its better to just let a good thing die off on its own, slowly, not butcher it in its sleep like they did, i was happy with the finale, and as much as i would have liked to see the series continue, nothing would have been better than what we got

HTTYD was a part of my childhood, and I have re-watched it multiple times ever since. It is a great world, full of potential, and when I first learnt about Nine Realms, I was thrilled for it. I simply hoped it would be good, even though I knew they were just milking the franchise, and that they would put the effort to make something good. Most of my hopes were crushed when I saw the trailer and the artstyle, though. I hope they're going to make an actual good sequel, or *prequel*, that'd be awesome, that would stand up to the original trilogy, or at least the passable, if not good, spin-offs they've made from it. I've always loved dragons (maybe too much recently) and knowing how badly portrayed these beings, and humans, were in that series makes me suffer. I would also love to hear you talk about how they could have made the series watchable, too! (I kinda hope they'd see it and, I dunno, do a Sonic.)

On Wu and Wei... Did they just... _forget that the Grapple Grounder exists??_ Literally *the* best candidate for an east Asian inspired dragon in the franchise. Long body, short legs, curled tail, spines running down the back. Just sharpen the head and add some whiskers/frills and you're set!

Man, this had the potential to be so good if it was about how dragons and humans function in a modern society, like legit Pokemon style, with different breeds helping in different fields, some being companions like dogs, or a method of transportation like horses, their magic helping in the technology, it would be so cool. Instead we got yet another "generic teen group discover that their Oh So Boring world has a magic realm".

The fact pure breed nightfuries don't exist anymore is bitter sweet, I'll admit to that, now I haven't seen this show but I'm pretty sure that Toothless' and his girlfriend's kids could have just as well ruined the pure blood of the white nightfuries too lmao, just baising this from the fact the white and black nightfuries became their own species bt the sound of things. It's kind of bitter sweet to think about lol Edit: that's actually a really good idea for an anti-hero kind of thing, where there's there's cult that's just trying to bring back the original dragon breeds and there's this kid saving the good genetic breeding dragons from poachers that would be cool, give them a pure blood white nightfury to contrast with the main character

They really should have done a spin-off with Bork the bold (adding more mature themes since a lot of httyd fans have grown older). We’d be able to dive into the details of what life was like before hiccup and toothless. We’d also get to learn more about dragons that weren’t featured a lot like the snaptrapper, and see the process of the book of dragons being created.

The way hybrids work, is Nightfury genes would have either eventually been dominated by Lightfury genes, since those were the possibly the only ones they were compatible with, OR they would've been completely infertile and unable to pass on the gene, anyway. Basically Nightfuries would've gone extinct, anyway.

It would have been 1000x more amazing if Tom had trained a Snifflehunch, Raincutter, Buffalord, or Hobblegrunt! Let some background dragons have a chance as a "poster dragon" for the series! But... alas. Polar bears are predators to humans. If given the chance, the polar bear would've eaten him.

I love how your Feathers version looked inspired by a terrible terror its quite a perfect way to make it fit into the universe without completely changing her!

Feathers redesign reminds me of Rainwings from wings of fire series! They in their beta design lek where shown to have feathers and are also chameleon dragons!

Oh gods. The nose. I...why? The dragon doesn't need that sort of a nose. I loved all of your redesigns. My favorite was Feathers. I would love to see that one animated most of all just because I feel like there would be a lot of fun motions. Especially with the mane feathers and the wings.

14:52 Wu and Wei seems so out of place to be dragons in the iceland region, they also just don't look like httyd dragons with the style, your redesign captures that httyd style

As someone who came from China, I do recognize the 龍-ish influences (and the sort of ying-yang vibe with the dragon being split), but I also feel they butchered the 'Eastern' design characteristics of this dragon. If you've ever seen a 龍, you'd know they're long and serpentine, and do NOT have wings. I truly do not like the OG design for Wu and Wei, they looks like the design team took the most stereotypical "Chinese" face they could think of, and plastered that onto a western dragon's body. Heck, I prefer Sisu's design over these guys. Anyways, that's my rant, its just that the OG design looks lazy af, and as I'm not a fan at all. Edit: I looked up the prerelease sketches and model on the HTTYD wiki, and I must say I like those a lot better; howtotrainyourdragon.fandom.com/wiki/Gallery:_Wu_and_Wei These concepts better capture the more 龍 ish aspects, like the serpentine body and the fluff, along with the concept of ying and yang. While I assume the black and white coloring in the concept may have mismatched with Thunder's colors, I am disappointed the design team didn't just recolor this concept design.

I've been a huge, huge fan of httyd, like horse girl level of obsessed. It's a shame this series didn't turn out too well. Also I'd love to see how you'd redesign dragons from the books, movies, and show!

The night Fury wouldve been bred out of the Night lights after like 2 generations - scientifically the night lights wouldve bred with the light furies - basically night furies were gone about 2 or 3 generations after toothless That always annoyed me about the show, the director confirmed toothless was the final night Fury ever, but the light Fury in The hidden world wasn't the last, there's multiple in the movie. The show feels too uncannon and just a cash grab on the name

The Main Reason why I loved The Dragon Series is the Dragon's Designs and their relationship with riders. Like, Hiccup and Toothless' friendship were parts of Films, One of my favorite dragon-rider dynamics is ironically Snotlout and Hookfang and that's only one of them. That's kinda what I wish this series had.(They did do it well in some parts, just not entirely)

I have to say as far as the show goes from the start when the show got anounced I instantly knew to keep my hopes for this show down. Like sure Netflix has made HTTYD shows before but I pretty much learned that NOTHING will be as good as Race To The Edge so when I saw the show there where a few things here and there that I found surprising like a bit of queer rep,disabilites and in general the main idea of having Dragons around in the modern world 1,300 after the original film is intresting. My main problem personally was just how quickly some of the kids bonded with their dragons Tom and Juno in particular. Tho I have to say I didnt really notice things like the Terror Card one mostly cause I just kinda didnt really care/zoned out a bit for most of it. And yeah the animation for the most part isnt the best. As for the dragons Im mixed on them. Thunder been a NightLight decendant I dont mind,mostly cause we know there was a whole population of LightFurys down there for them to breed with and keep those NightFury genoms going. My main issue with him aside from the dreaded nose, but the scales. MY GOD the scales! Why is he covered in so many rough looking scales? Toothless only had patches of biger rougher scales on him. And the LightFurys are as smooth as baby skins, if only they kept those big scales(and mabey made the ears smaller) in smaller patches I would have been fine with his design. Tho I have to say your take on him is nice. Also yeah the way they just rushed though Thunders and Toms Hicup & Toothless felt lazy nulstagia stuff. Feathers design is one that is just disapointing to me. Mostly cause of similar things you brought up which is why I argree with your design more. If the speceis looked more like Quetzalcóatl and have it be more feathered as well as using its abilites I would have been happier. Wu and Wei is another design Im disapointed cause I would have loved an Eastern looking dragon, but the colours really kill it for me. Just the yellow body really kills it for me,the blue and red colour combo is nice but the rest is ehhhhh. And again similar points you brought up about Juno bonding with them. Plowhorn/Gema Is the only desgin I havent really got any strong opinions about. Its nice that theres a second Beatle looking dragon aside from Skullcrusher and the Rumblehorns. But your take on it is nice.

I think 9 realms was always going to be fighting an uphill battle in terms of being good, because they have to try and establish a whole new cast of characters and a brand new setting as well. When I was getting ready to start watching it, I was shocked by just how short it was (only six 20 minute episodes??), and I really think that was a massive detriment to the show. I personally really appreciated the diversity in the show, especially since all of the poc characters we’ve had previously in HTTYD have been villains or antagonists in some way. (Gonna be a long comment here) I wish they’d shown just a little more Mexican influence when it came to Alex’s family, but if I remember correctly I think at least one of her moms had an accent and as a Latino myself who has never been very connected to my culture I can forgive it. Personally, I think that Feathers should have looked more like a Quetzalcoatl (just being an amphithere would’ve done WONDERS in communicating this). Still, even working with the lackluster design we have in the show I’d really love them to go in a direction of like- Alex isn’t super connected with her Mexican culture, but Feathers being similar to Quetzalcoatl drives her curiosity and desire to learn about it. That’s sort of been my experience with watching Encanto and having a strong desire to connect to my own Latino background as a result of it. I personally didn’t see Jun’s interest in mythology and spirituality as being connected to her being Chinese so I didn’t have an issue with it for the most part, but I definitely agree that other things around her (including Wu and Wei) felt kinda racist, however unintentional it may have been. I definitely appreciate the attempt, but feel like the dragon’s design needed a lot more time in the oven (though I don’t know how I would personally change it). I like your redesign, but I will say I would prefer more a middle ground. I like that they’re trying to mix cultural dragons with the almost exclusively European dragons we’re used to, and would still want Wu and Wei to keep a clear Chinese influence. We have no idea just how large the Hidden World truly is, considering the entrance we know from the movie is in Scandinavia and I believe the Fissure is in Canada. It wouldn’t be unlikely for it to extend to Asia and South America as well, so I think the show has an easy and painless explanation for more diversity when it comes to dragon mythology. Tom is easily the worst character, and I remember comparing him to Jim from Trollhunters while talking to my friends once. Jim is a way better and much more likeable character of course, but both protagonists are mid-teenage boys who live with their single mothers. Jim’s dad isn’t mentioned immediately in Trollhunters, but you learn later that he was a deadbeat who walked out on them, and this adds so much character to Jim and his mom because we hear him say he doesn’t care about what happened with his dad, but it’s clear that this influenced him and is one of the reasons he tries to be so dependable- he doesn’t want to be like his dad. It’s small, but it does a lot to develop Jim as a character. Tom has literally nothing like this and is seemingly a stupid selfish jerk for no reason. I don’t NEED character backstories to be present right from the get-go (Valka is barely mentioned in the first movie after all) but I really hope they have something planned that will explain some of Tom’s behavior because he’s one of the most unlikeable protagonists I’ve met in a while and I’d really like to know WHY. You also already brought up the polar bear thing, that was definitely poorly executed. I feel like pretty much everything about Tom is poorly executed, from his personality to his relationships to his backstory. And Thunder is a really bad design too, definitely the worst of the bunch. It’s not a good thing when the protagonist is the worst character! I have no faults with D’Angelo, I enjoyed pretty much everything to do with him and he was definitely the best written part of the show. The initial impression I feel the show gives you of him is that he’s that sort of stereotypical ‘tough black guy’ but then they subvert that in a really pleasing way. It’s not revolutionary but he just really feels like an actual person and the way he talks to his mom about how he’s worried the other kids just don’t like him was so sweet. I also love the casual representation of his mom being disabled too, and that they don’t treat her as any lesser for it. I think the show actually does a lot of nice casual representation, especially with D’Angelo’s mom and Alex’s moms. I also personally think that, aside from her agoraphobia, Alex is neurodivergent in some way (though I’m not about to try and give her a specific diagnosis). Even if that wasn’t their intention with her, it’s how they’ve written her and I think a lot of neurodivergent people will be able to relate to her because of it. I think the show has a lot of flaws, yes, but I also think it has a lot of potential as well. They’ve already made some missteps that they can’t take back, but I fully believe they could recover if they take the right steps moving forward.

i think the way httyd 3 ended was a perfect end to the series. the dragons being hidden away forever at the end was heartbreaking but incredibly meaningful masterful, and it just went to show that saying goodbye is not always a bad thing and all that jazz. this new show is literally just a cash grab.

The name thunder to a night light descendant feels like a httyd1 night fury oc redraw. Yeah, those fanarys that put eyelashes on the dragon to make it female. Anyways, I'm not a big fan of your designs’ color schemes but the designs alone are really, like REALLY good tho, like Jesus.

I enjoy your redisign of Thunder which pretty much a new species of dragon that evolved from the furies. I would believe that furies would be endangered enough that they would evolve to breed with other dragon species.

“I didn’t want to judge anything before it came out” Why not? It looks horrible. It’s a cash grab. The movies ended perfectly, so there really wasn’t anything to make anymore (except another series where we see how they do with their kids and without the dragons, but I’m over it. I swear) Also, I refuse to believe that these are the same breeds of dragons. They look almost nothing like their ancestors, especially not the two headed one. Which I could go off about that. I’ve been trying to think about what they could have been in the past, but I couldn’t get anything. So my theory is, these are different breeds, and is a different hole then the others. The others are still out there somewhere, in all their OG glory, waiting.

I had no idea this disaster of a show even existed, but I watched this whole video and was very entertained. Also, your designs are stunning!! I'd like a plushie of your version of Thunder, he's SO PRECIOUS and I wanna hug him ;_;

When I first saw nine realms I thought it was some knockoff someone made. The only reason I had watched it was out of curiosity to see how bad it would be. When June's mom absolutely roasted her about the tarot cards, I actually started liking it. That roast made me respect that mother. Onto other things about the show. Seeing how low quality the animation was in the first couple minutes, the dragons' quality surprised me. To me, the animators put more effort into the dragons then the rest of the show. I didn't have much of a beef with any of the dragon designs, except for the two headed one (who until now I thought was named Red and Blue). That one felt very out of place and disproportionate. The gold design on its wings didn't feel naturally occurring either. Feathers's design I'm good with, but that's probably because the only time I've ever heard of Quetzalcoatl was when I played Dragon City years ago. For the gembreaker, I liked the cracks of the horn. The different physical appearance of Thunder compared to Toothless gave me aquatic vibes. When it came to the parallels of the stories, I liked them. Yes they were parallels, but they were each different in their own ways. When it came to Toothless and Hiccup's encounter, they were more hostile towards each other because humans and dragons had been fighting each other for generations. Hiccup freeing Toothless from his net and Toothless sparing Hiccup. For Thunder and Tom's encounter, Thunder being friendly could be explained by the fact dragons haven't had contact with humans for over a thousand years (kinda like dodos, but dodos are a different can of worms). Thunder didn't really need Tom's help to get out of the rocks, but Tom needed Thunder's help to not fall in lava. In my opinion, it felt like a reverse uno card on Hiccup and Toothless. There definitely is quite a bit they need to improve, (such as the whole science facility deal cause that feels messy) but, considering the budget and time they had, I would say it is decent to a point.

One of the things that annoyed me the most about the new designs is Thunder's colouring. Wtf. There was only one night fury and a bunch of light furies left. Toothless had crossbreed children that would breed with children of light furies. So when Thunder came along, it would mean a thousand years back he had ONE ANCESTOR THAT WAS PURELY BLACK. He shouldn't have a mostly black body...

Ironic how the _Dragons_ have more personality than the _people_ at some times😭 And I hate that my first thought when seeing the show was, "Oh god it's like a distant cousin of a cross between Rescue Riders and one of the most recent revamps of the _winx club_ --"

Feathers made me think of like. The tiny dragons, the *really* small ones, uh. Terrible terror. But I agree that it was a bit too simple.

another thing to add onto the one of two culturally based dragon, you mention that it feels a bit racist. i agree. not just that, but they also add very obvious stereotypes. i didnt get past the first episode it was so terrible. but around the very beginning the writers are very much implying that june's mom is really strict. like damn, its not even funny

The only thing i realized (this might sound dumb or in any other way but) Wu and Wei are heavily i meant *HEAVILY* inspired by Chinesse culture with the whole long moustache hair, and pairing the dragons with another asian person on the main cast is alright in my opinion. But thank GOD this person tone down the whole streotype long hair moustache. Tbh this was a long paragraph to write.

I just subscribed, you're work is really cool! 😍 I really don't like the Dragons 9 Realms, because it feels like a mixture of Jurassic Park and Halo taking away the Viking theme. But, I do like Thunder, the things that I don't like about Thunder is his wings and tail fins, especially his wings because they look like they won't give him lift. I actually love how you re-desinged Thunder, you made him look AWESOME!!!!

The first HTTYD movie will forever hold a special place in my heart. Though the further on they went with the movies, the closer they got to making it one of those cash-grab movies/cartoons. Also the original concept design for the Light Fury was so much better than what we actually got. I wish we got that version instead hahah.

I agree with everything you said, I liked your redesigns, all the outlines were good but the colour palettes were not the best, I really like HTTYD all the movies, but I've never seen the two shows, nine realms looks like a cash grab, the animation looks really bad, the designs look ugly, I wonder if this was an entirely new team or they didn't have good designers, I thought this would've kept the storyline going with Hiccup and Toothless's children, (If I remember right, both had kids? idk) I thought they did because the black and white one with blueish eyes, looked like one of the dragon babies, at the end of the movie. lol.

I never watched the new show because the moment i saw all the dragon design cause when i see them i knew if the dragon design is this lazy i can't imagine the show itself. And that's the biggest problem of Wu and Wei for me because this show has done an Asian inspired dragon search up slitherwing, it's a barongsai inspired poison dragon that has very vibrant colors and although for me it's obvious the Asian inspired design they TRY to seamlessly work it into the world and it worked. As an Asian (granted I'm not Chinese but my country do derive a lot of Chinese culture and have decent amount of Chinese people) for me the racist thing about Wu and Wei isn't that they're the most obvious cultural design but the fact they just so lazy with how they integrate the culture into dragon form. I mean they just slap an Asian dragon make it with 2 heads and color it differently with little effort for making it seems like a normal dragon in the world of how to train your dragon is enough for them.

Tbh, I havent been that into HTTYD in a couple of years, i really like the movies, but im not "part of the fandom" just because i always have this thing with fandoms i like of making ocs, or stories and stuff, and the world felt so rounded and perfect that I just couldn't bring myself to even try and touch it or tarnish it. But I feel like, with this new show (and probably every other recent show the movie derived), they tried to "open the world" outside of Hiccup and Toothless, that in the future dragons are still out there roaming the streets under peoples noses and no one really realizes it except for those who were "worthy". Or at least that's what I think should have happened. So idk, maybe I'll try and make a fanfic in tumblr or smth. For what is worth, your vid did make the creative juices flow, so thanks! I have to say I agree with all your points, I saw the trailer and had a little bit of hope but it all got lost in the first episode. What bothers me the most is that with kids shows and movies that I used to watch didn't force-feed me the story they just told it and some points I didn't understand until I was older but I think that's what made them so good. I HATE how people think they need to spoonfeed a story to kids and in this series it was just dull and bland and way too much of just explaining the emotions instead of showing. I wanted more color more beauty to how the franchise is suppose to be, the idea seems good I just was expecting more from it. Anyway I love the redesigns and I hope you keep up the good work!

Thunder redesign is so precious I love him I don't want to watch the series; it'll taint my memory of the original movies

when I heard the synopses of hidden world I wanted to write a next gen set in scottland, sort of like the writer of the books, a decendant of hiccup encountering dragons on the family farm and such.

I think it would’ve been cool to explore the Night Lights design in this show (It would’ve only made it a little better). Because night lights couldn’t have stayed super black realistically, I think they would’ve bred with Light Furies, which would’ve over the years made them lighter and lighter. I think the design should’ve been white with black speckles along it’s body. Also just hate this show in general

Some sources I've read say Thunder is supposed to be a Night Light not a Night Fury. Night Light being a hybrid of the Night Fury and their subspecies the Light Fury. In other words Thunder should look like a mix of both species, not whatever generic abomination he looks like.

Maybe not the best video to start it off with, but oh well- Also, 30:16 looks like it could be from the Jurassic Park animated Netflix series thing, or Paw Patrol.

Despite its *many* flaws, the Gone series talks about a specific incident of a character multiple times. The thing is it works because every time it's meant to act as the character in question being called what is essentially a "one hit wonder"

If anyone hasn't already,I really recommend watching Riders of Berk and Race to the Edge. I loved how they explored new dragons and filled in the gaps that the movie didn't. I might give this new show a try but I know how disappointing it will be, sadly

I enjoy your redesigns! The two headed dragon's colors you chose really clash though, the red, blue, yellow and purple just feels like way too much contrast, I personally would've stuck with hues of red - blue - purple

I feel like Thunder's colors are a little understandable, like the nightfuries are supposed to be like cats so Thunder's colors are more like a tuxedo cat but there's a lot still about how the body is actually shaped that just... looks Bad

they had to hire YOU as their dragon character designer, honestly. I loved them all, especially loving the hybrid of a scauldron, nightmare and hideous zippleback! The, zippledron? Hideous Cauldronhook? Any name would be better than the previous abomination xD

The nine realms was just really unnecessary. After the hidden world, it was like, “oh wow, this is a satisfying end.” And everything was great. But then they decided, “Jurassic park got a tv show on Netflix, let’s do one of those!” Hhhhh. It was perfectly fine before and everyone was fine with how the movie ended things. And they just RUINED HTTYD.

Wow those designs look VILE. I watched/read all of the other httyd things and i have never even heard about this series. Even the humans look bad?? Why didn't they just use the normal artstyle.

I personally think that the dragon at the end (can’t remember the name they gave it) had a really cool concept, but bad execution. The drilling into rock by spinning and breathing fire or whatever was really cool to me, but the animation model they used was *painful* to look at for such an interesting concept

i could not sit thrugh the first episode but i like your summary your design is really neat for the dragons for feathers specifically i like the chameleon aspect i would have throught that another cameleon dragon would look like the other two kinds of color chnaging dragons we got in the series like an evolution type of thing but i really enjoy the flowery aspect thats such a cool thing that could be deled into like if it is the mimic of a flower that means there are flowers dangerous enough that they are mimicked for safety or somthing like in the secret dragon land to hide from bigger predetors theres actually so much potential like you pointed out in many cases

Hey! Just wanna say, your redesign of Wu and Wei isn’t actually a wyvern! What you made is closer to an amphiptere. Wyverns have back legs, like dragons, but the two front legs are the wings. Amphiptere is what you redesigned them as, which has wings and a snake-like body. Just a tiny correction, there’s so many dragon-type species it can get confusing Edit: I’m blind, I just now saw the note in the video, w o o p s

I would've liked to know what happened to New Berk and the New Berk Vikings! Tom's a descendant of Hiccup right? And to keep such an ancient relic (Hiccup's helmet)! Were they really proud of their Viking heritage? Or is there a deeper meaning for keeping the helmet in the family? The Berkians were trying to keep the dragons safe from the world, so why did they leave New Berk? Would there be a secret society that would at least keep tabs on the dragons to make sure they're safe? Why would they even allow a company who has no clue about the dragons, go exploring around the VERY place the Berkians wanted to keep hidden? And how did other cultures get involved, since it appears to no longer be about Vikings anymore? It's just, if they're trying to tie this with the HTTYD movies and series, there would be more mysteries and puzzles right? I hope the show gets better.

When I heard about it, I knew it was gonna be a wild ride since it takes place in modern times. Idk about some other people, but I feel so numb and dull with stories taking place in modern time eras, but that’s just me though. Ngl, Feathers (because of course it’s named that bruh) looks like a love child of Toothless and Stormfly. I feel like there was some weird case of inbreeding or something over the centuries, hence how the dragon retained most of the anatomy from his ancestors. It’s weird to think about tbh.

you do a really god job capturing the vibe of the HTTYD desings, both the final ones from accross the franchise and the nicolas marlet artwork the designs were based on. Its got that same whimiscal gecko dog aesthetic.
