One of the reasons I think is that people don't prefer citizenship is because after getting that they need to get OCI card. And as an OCI you can not sell or buy property in India. People do not want that.

Smart people move to tax free or low tax regime countries, like UAE, middle east, Singapore, Hong-Kong etc etc. Canadian passport holds barely any significance, if you are a successful person, any country will happily give u visa. Canada unfortunately has attracted more low quality students and workers in past decade or so and they are facing the consequences of rise in crime, joblessness etc.

In Canada, life is so superficial. One, especially new immigrant, is 'robotically' working round the clock to make ends meet. Social life is utterly materialistic and relationships are almost fully devoid of emotions, bonding, and love. Here in Canada, it is next to impossible to inculcate Sikh ethos and values in one's children. ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਬੋ- ਹਵਾ 'ਚ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਕ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਪੈਣ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੀ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
