Distilled in the lost tradition from the San Pedro cactus by the last master Huachumero, Don Howard Lawler, Huachuma was the sacrament that formed the foundation for pre-Incan civilization, the Chavin. Don Howard led Aubrey Marcus and a group of friends in this moving meditation that reveals the true transformative power of this sacred technology.
Mitch Schultz, director of DMT: The Spirit Molecule, invites you to join this 45 minute excursion deep into the heart of the Peruvian rainforest to experience the magic of the 3000 year old plant medicine: Huachuma.
Through the power of huachuma, Lawler leads the group through guided meditation for positive energy, using herbal medicine as a way to get Marcus and his friends to learn how to face their fears. Don also convinces the minds of the people in the group to forget about everything else in their lives, proving to be a great form of stress relief meditation.

After tons of Ayahuasca, I did 1 Huachuma ceremony which led to my spiritual awakening. The mind stopped and everything became aligned with the "NOW." It was the first taste of enlightenment. That awakened state is still with me and never left.

Many here in the west think what they call ego is a negative force, It is not at all. The issue is simply that we control it and not the other way around. We need ego for many valid reasons, we simply need to be aware of it so we are in control of it. Many in the west have a lot of things quite wrong. the idea of being egoless is moronic. But a lot of new age supposed knowledge is moronic and nothing more than marketing shams. In fact all of Maya is just another illusion to be understood and experienced. Recently Sadhguru said this earth and all living things on it are quite perfect. The only real problem is humans who seem to destroy everything they touch ! An excellent reality check. As well J Krishnamurta said in the mid 60s : "it is no good comment of a man to be well adjusted to a sick society " He was quite right back then and even more so today. Indeed any real solutions all start inside each of us as we embark on our own "Inner Journey" and seek our own "Inner Powers" !

For anyone going into a cactus experience, don't overthink it, it's much less mind fucky than other psychedelics, and has some mdma kinda feels mixed with the visuals and other sensations It lasts all day and makes time seem like it's going by slowly, but it's usually always been positive for me

That's not necessarily true, I have had super strong trips with tested high potency cactus that have been very stimulant hitting like I was tweaking out, very hullucinagenic yes but very energetic almost like I'd took lsd while doing lines of coke lol, which while enjoyable was far from calm. Truth is potency of cacti and strains of cacti with the amount of alkaloids can be very varied

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been assisting in San Pedro ceremonies for over a year and your story echoes experiences of my own and others that I know of. To this day, it surprises me how different every ceremony is, for everybody. I love Mother Aya, and I owe her my deepest respect, but the Grandfather is my favourite. He allows me to apply my skills to support others on their journey in an energy-efficient way. I hope to be able to continue doing this for much longer.

Kitty Poop It depends a little on the quality of your cactus. Is it hothouse? Take a minimum of 30 grams if your cactus grew outside for a very mild trip, more if it grew indoors. It’s virtually if not wholy impossible to overdose, so no worries there. Nervous? Then starting of with microdosing for some weeks before is never bad. My parents (nearing 90) take 3-5 capsules a day for war trauma. Some people I see take 10 a day. To get to a ceremonial dose I take 20-40 caps for a first round - about 15 grams - and then a second and maybe a third helping, depending on how deep/wide I want to go. When I drink, I may go for three cups, each the equivalent of 20- 40 caps. Drinking is different. Remember always to respect set and setting. Bon voyage!

The scenery, tracking shots, and overall tone of this video are absolutely stunning. But I have to say... this was pretty light on information. I was hoping for a little more of a breakdown on what Huachuma actually *is*, though I appreciate everyone's description of their subjective experiences. The "forgotten" psychedelic was not exactly brought back into full knowledge here. I appreciate the effort though. My KZfaq journey continues... peace to you all

I lived & worked in Bolivia for a few years. I had been using Lsd, Shrooms occasionally for several years. My first time using San Pedro was in Bolivia. It was one of the best psychedellic experiences i have ever had. As Todd below says, it lasted through the day but still allowed one to deal with the life going on around you as it slowly wore off. We actually took a bus back to La Paz from the valley of the white ghosts where we were enjoying being part of everything, I did Ayahuasca later which was a much more viceral experience. Both positive tthough.

Hey Aubrey, I'm going to be honest here: I had a lot of trouble finishing this documentary. But let me start with that I love: the atmosphere it evokes, the music, the people, the scenes, the filming, the photographs. That's all great. However, I wanted to learn about Huachuma and the culture around it. I must say that I learned little about that that I did not already know from other psychedelics documentaries. I'm still left with a lot of practical questions: what is the (ancient and modern) history of huachuma? How is it different from other psychedelics such as psilocybin or ayahuasca? What do we know and what do we not know? How are these rituals conducted? I see people drinking all throughout the documentary, but the process is unclear. It seems that people are walking or even being boated around. That's different from ayahuasca ceremonies. Why? What's the thinking behind this? Why did you specifically seek this out? When are people tripping, and when not? It seems people are pretty lucid while tripping? Is this a phase or during the whole trip? It would have been great to have an interview or two intermixed with these scenes. E.g. with an ethnobotanist, a neuroscientist, maybe someone working with other psychedelics in therapy. Maybe I had the wrong expectations, but as a viewer I expected these questions to be answered. More context in the beginning and perhaps a different title would have clarified what to expect. You say that your goal is to 'plug people in'. I think that's a wonderful and noble goal and I'm glad you came to that realisation. However, I don't feel that this documentary is achieving that very much. At least, I suspect it's mostly reaching people who are already somewhat plugged in. The words of wisdom from the participants are wonderful and ring very true to me. However, it's preaching to the choir: I'm already more than convinced of this whole paradigm (although of course, I have a lot to experience and grow still!). I'm afraid that, to someone unfamiliar with psychedelics/the hippie paradigm, a lot of the talk rings hollow and lacks context. Let me reiterate that I DON'T think they are hollow, but that without context they may come across hollow to people. With love, Siebe P.S. Not sure what's happening with my editing. Paragraphs seem to clump together.

The information you are seeking will present itself when the time is right. Most of the ancient ways of working with this medicine were killed off a long time ago... the people who still use it have developed new types of ceremonies... but none of that technically matters because the plant still holds the wisdom and with the right intentions set you will get what you need... the intention could be as simple as "show me what i need to see"

I noticed the people (foreign to the jungle) at the ceremony in the jungle still had their shoes on. THere is no connection to Pachamama when wearing rubber on your feet. It really stuck out to me. I try to stand bare foot every day for at least 15 minutes and have an earthing sheet on my bed. Pachamama gives us EVERYTHING even the medicines and the rubber on the bottom of their feet. Great documentary tho. Thank you

Really enjoyed watching this. Hoping to experience this in the Amazon myself some day. I have two San Pedro cacti growing on my windowsill here in not-so-sunny England, but not quite the same as taking part in a traditional Huachuma ceremony in the place the plant has been used for thousands of years. Thank you for making this documentary film. Seemed like a good crowd for company too. Fantastic film work that captured the stunning scenery and vibes so perfectly.

The San Pedro is legal and available in America. Oakland has legalized many entheogens, while it must be quite an experience to go to the Amazon rainforest , it's very expensive and going to one of these types of places down there will add to the expense. For true spiritual seekers who don't have that kind of cash, Oakland is an option. I have no idea where in Oakland you will find a setting that suits you but I suppose you could create one. I wouldn't think running around the city fits the profile but if you could create an indoor sanctuary for the experience or are aware of an appropriate outdoor/indoor spot you won't have to spend all of that money to commune with The Great Spirit. Those who are seeking shall find...

@@alidelatierra Last I checked Oakland is in AMERICA, I am an American, I come and go wherever I want, I don't need your invitation. Your xenophobic and over protective attitude is an insult I have no real interest in Oakland regardless, the cost of living is absurd and it's nor exactly a great place, so you really don't have to worry about me but your plants have taught you nothing from the looks of your reply. I don't tell you not come where I am and you won't be telling me how to conduct my life or where to go, any questions? I DON'T NEED YOUR INVITATION. The plants are not your property and you are wrong to think I wouldn't respect them but you have not respected me, too bad for you. There are better places than Oakland with people who are more open to others, you are a lost soul and a poor representative of Oakland and the species for your closed attitude.
