True story: Huawei offered -twice- to fly me to London to spend a week with the Mate 20 Pro ... and each time I told them “thanks, but October is much too busy.” Then I actually got to see the Mate 20 Pro at an early briefing in New York City - and halfway through the meeting I told them I'd changed my mind. Because when a company builds this much camera capability and this many features into a phone that won't be sold in the United States ... a week spent with it in a market where it will be sold is the best way to understand it. (That's my official answer, anyway. My unofficial one: I think the Mate 20 Pro may have the smartphone camera I've been waiting for all my life. I needed to put it to the test.)

Innovate? They just copied apple’s 3d face ID (even the setup process) and user interface. Oh well and added a shitty wide angle camera too that looks so ugly in that square

@@TheVintendo I agree, plus no headphone jack. Maybe in future with improved on screen fingerprint sensor we won't need face unlock and thus lose that notch (or at least that big).

John James Rambo That's what i was thinking. It's a great phone for sure but innovative, hell no. Please don't count 7nm chip as innovation because it's just a natural progression. Qualcomm and Samsung would release their 7nm, in their product cycle.

I'm in for a proper upgrade on a phone and this does it , no more little stupid upgrades , i want it all; bezel less , in screen scanners , IR , wireless , ten cameras if possible etc .

@@dudanvictor4203 Huawei's under-screen fingerprint scanner is only an optical one, seen on many other phones this year. Samsung's is predicted to be an ultrasonic one, making it not only faster than an optical one and a traditional one, but more secure than an optical one as it maps out your fingerprint in 3D instead of capturing a 2D image of your fingerprint with an optical sensor.

@@tryannosaur probably. I've had Honor 8 before buying Note 8 for my biz number and I use both. My honor recognises my fingerprint instantly and it doesn't even have to scan a large area of my finger, however Note 8 could be a bit of a pain when I need to scan multiple times to work. Plus. Samsung has copied Huawei in terms of color and finishing so far starting from the blue one sene in Honor 8.

Huawei just changed the game. This is possibly the best phone of 2018. 7nm cpu, face id, in-screen fingerprint sensor, incredible quad camera setup (likely best on a smartphone), 6gb ram, huge battery, amazing design, and being actually affordable (ahem apple) Well played huawei.

But you can get it - just not through a carrier..in Europe we usually buy the phone outright, you can do the same if you want .- pretty sure it supports US bands

For some it maybe worth it but it's hard to justify when there's so many other great smartphones out there

I am a Huawei user. Using a 2016 phone(never got a reason to change). I am commenting to update on the updates. The last update I got was the security patch for the month August 2018. For people who are concerned about updates.

I'm really confused by the battery life everyone is getting on the note 9, like mentioned here in this look and his review of the note 9.. I just bought one last week and I listen to KZfaq while at work (phone screen on all the time) and I'm getting nearly 10 hours of screen on time at 50% brightness with notifications on, edge lighting etc... Did I just get a golden sample of a battery or?

they raised to prices quickly i liked huawei because they where making decent phones for a cheap price. now they are just producing flagship phones. i bought my huawei mate 9 for 650 euro. it was an amazing price for that phone. but paying a 1000 euro for a phone is not worth it to me. i am probably going to get a sony xperia xz3. still pretty expensive at 800 euro but not as bad as some others

well everyone has different needs. for me the screen is the most important part. i mostly use my phone for watching youtube videos and browsing the web. i almost never take photo's or game with my phone. so to be honest even the sony xz3 already is overkill for my needs but i just like having the newest tech.
