As a Huawei Matepad Paper user; ✏ They need some improvement. ● There is still no zoom feature in the Notes app. While you wright/draw something can’t zoom in/out. ● Can’t organize pages, order or sort on the Notes app. ● There is no shape recognition. So for example when you draw a line, circle, triangle etc. it's not transform a perfect shape. ● There is no full screen mod on Notes app. You can't go full screen on Notes app. As a result, when writing, hand touches the lower part of the tablet where settled the touch/navigation buttons. You leave the page unintentionally. ● When converting handwriting to text, you may need to edit the bottom part of the page and you cannot see bottom side because the keyboard takes up that bottom part. ● When you annotate on the PDF, the annotation may not be in place when you go to another page and come back. ● When you double-tap the Pen, it can switch between pen and eraser, but most of the time it doesn't work. ● When you handwrite content into text boxes and draw a wavy line to delete word as features does not work in your own Notes app, PDF and office apps. It only works when you type/change the folder name, file name or in the search box of the internet browser. ● There are only 8 applications on the AppGallery. But they are not well optimized. There is an unacceptable delay on 3rd party apps. All of the above can be fixed with an update.

I wish and hope that your main review going to get the attention from Huawei and for their future possible devices and they will send you review units. Because almost all tech reviewers they sent they are just tech reviewers and they actually no idea or very limited knowledge in e-ink devices. And they have no base to be able to compare with other devices. Thank you very much for obtaining the device and actually letting us to be able to have a comparable review of it. I am looking forward because I have a chance to get it for 320€ with tax exempt and if I see it's working good I will directly go with this rather than Boox.

I can't wait to see the full review. With how strong the magnets are in the case I'm curious how well shielded the device is so they don't interfere.... or maybe it's not actually an issue because it's an active pen and not an EMR... I am curious also about if the exports from notebooks are vector files, and if you can disable the pen wireless charging.

Hey Voja ;-) brilliant, thank you, can't wait for your deep guide, as it is the one new device, I've been truly interested in, too. It looks and behaves quite amazingly. Particularly I'm interested to see in your guide what kind of connectivity they have, eg to OneDrive or other clouds. If they have it, is it a true (folder) sync or just access like on the RM? And how does Harmony OS compare to eg Boox's Android versions, are other reading apps available? I guess, I would be interested to see what you get if you get a Huawei ID, but fully understand if you don't want to do that ;-) Maybe others can comment on that in general? One remark, does the Speed mode influence the writing speed? In the video it seems you were on the faster level the entire time? Thank you as always.

Hi, I got mine today, and during setup it asks to connect to the wifi which I did and then when it is supposed to activate the device it simply says no internet connection. Even though I’m connected and the wifi working. Since I can’t use it nor don’t know how to skip. Any idea?

Hello Voja. I bought this device. I am using huawei cloud but icoudnt manage to synchronize my hand writing notes. I did whole settings adjustmens but it didnt work. My other files are synchronizing but notes are not. Have you seen same problem on your device? Could you please try it?

Nice review. The only point I don't agree with is that the darker stripe on the thicker side is unlikely to be an "intentional design" but rather an assembly defection. I purchased the device two months ago and returned it after a week exactly because of the issue. Indeed, there're lots of similarly situated buyers complaining in their Chinese forum. If you try reading in the dark it'd quickly become distracting.

I love my reMarkable, but its weight is annoying to me.

Not a fan of the silver pen and shiny case clasp - looks a little too "bling" for a reading device.

I don't personally like the device. Too many odd behaviours and I can't be mentioned bug to view two battery logo information upper corner and bottom of the page in a same time. Was very strange and make me laugh. Anyway I want to share a trick I found to be usefull with the device. Because there is no Google play and speech to text conversion cost extra. I search Gboard keyboard APK from internet and it went install just fine. So now I can speak Finnish and my keyboard type it so far incredible correctly without any extra costs. But as I say, not like much Matepad paper and yes I like Remarkable better....

I might have missed some pre-look stuff before this, but I was surprised to not hear your address the fact that it's a flagrant design-rip of the remarkable. It's irritating to see a multi-billion euro international mega-conglomerate rip off a small European startup.

Damn, I just purchased the super note a5x. Looks better. But I guess it’s safer to go with a dedicated eink company that is constantly updating a device then a larger company stepping into the sector.
