In 2021. Huawei has released several monitors, and a few days before the year ended, we have received their MateView GT Sound Edition - a monitor which has attracted a lot of attention. A curved panel, 165Hz refresh rate, an integrated soundbar and color accuracy that promises to please the professional users are features that sure look good on paper. how does Huawei Mateview GT compares to MSI Optix Mag342CQR and Mi Curved monitor 34"? there's also Asus 34" Tuf Ultra wide monitors and Gigabyte which is around the same price range. Thank you!

The Benq is way better but at a way higher price.

How it does gaming i have heard it has a terrible ghosting is it that bad and in my local area its 295$ brand new would you recommend it?

@@redline7496 OK it's been 2 or so years since I bought the monitor, my honest review of it, if you want to play 1st person shooters like Call of Duty it does the job with its 165hz refresh rate and can push 4K HDR on all games however, something to note is even when you play games in 4K you won't get ultra clear detail of textures and foliage due to its liquid crystal panel (LCD), general liquid crystal panels aren't as sharp at LED (Light-Emitting Diode) screens and tend to be softer on the eyes, and even then compared to 4K gaming on a brand-new LED TV that's capable of 4K HDR 120Hz gaming it doesn't come close, with a 3080Ti, if you are super competitive FPS gamer then a 1080P 240hz monitor will blow the Huawei monitor out the water only if you are running the 3080 Ti series will you get amazing quality in details at 1080p for all COD games as COD utilizes DLL for upscaling without effecting refresh rates by caping them at 120 or 60, the ghosting isn't as bad as what people make it out to be you only notice it if you really focus on the distant details of a games map. Now if you are someone who likes aesthetics with the ability to do work like video edit, photo editing, music production as the real estate of the screen should be worth more than the price tag it has, and sometimes you want to watch a YT video with the occasional gaming, then this monitor is for you. I hope this gives you some sense of what to expect from this monitor so you may make your decision with better knowledge and judgment. Personally I love the monitor, but recently I moved on to gaming on my 4K HRD TV with 120hz refresh rate and I love it, but I have not played any online competitive games on the TV yet as I am enjoying a lot of single player games with incredible details popping up on the TV that I missed on the Huawei monitor.

Hey! I'm interested in this monitor but how bad is the black smearing? I'm coming from the AOC 24G2U (IPS) and I've never tried a VA panel before. I play all sorts of games but more as a casual.

It's noticeable, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the content. IPS is still a safer choice in most cases when it comes to panel response time.

Bought it today for 362 euros on easter sale. it's a good monitor for the price, but I have to sit really close to see the texts clearly. not sure what are the best display settings for MacBook m1. also the usb c is a joke, it doesn't supply power to the Mac, its good for charging phones I guess.

Watch out. I purchased the Huawei 34" MateView GT monitor In France. It broke down after 4 months. It was sent for repair, but I had to wait for 3 monhs and when I got it back, the screen was cracked due to poor packaging. Huawei broke my monitor but won’t replace it. This is how miserable their service is. Too bad, I should have picked up a more reliable brand which cares about his customers. Otherwise the product was OK, not that great and a little cheap, but in line with the price.

My HUAWEI MateView also broke after less than a year (bought in May 2022). The repair went well and was quick (a few days).

PSA For all owners of this monitor!!! You can completely get rid of black smearing by setting the Picture Mode to sRGB. There will still be some regular ghosting of course, no more than in other Picture Modes though, but it'll be MUCH less apparent when the black smearing isn't accentuating it. I was shocked to see the black smear completely disappear when I had the UFO ghosting test up while testing picture mode settings on my Mateview GT 34. Overdrive Level 3 by the way. Way better gaming experience after switching to that. I don't understand how the monitor can negate black smearing so well in that mode, and not the other modes, but regardless I recommend every owner of this monitor to try it out for themselves, since it's an absolute game changer when gaming.

I've been using it (Huawei MateView GT 34) for about one week. Yesterday I realized that its adapter getting really hot. It even make the wooden table hot. I use Asus all in one for years with a bigger adapter and there's nothing here something like this. Is it acceptable, normal or is it a sign for something bad? What should I do?

*PSA* this monitor CAN do 10 bit at 144+ hz all you need to do is add an displayID block with the original timings and a higher refresh rate i got mine up to 158.14, so yeah, why waste the advertised extra hertz when you can lose out on only 7... uwqhd va 158hz 10 bit freesync with hdr curved panel with great colors out the box and acceptable ghosting on level 3 for 400 bucks, not bad huawei *UPDATE* since this monitor will become more widespread over time (discounts, used market etc.) i see it as my duty to spread some info on tweaks ive found over time. -it is possible to go all the way to the advertised 165hz (and a bit above) with 10 bit (including hdr+freesync). so essentially as advertised. -i found it best to trim the freesync range to ~75-165hz. A LOT less flickering at the cost of MINIMAL stuttering at certain frequencies (youd have to be stutter-hunting to find it) if interested, i may share an EDID override in form of a .exe file. one would simply download, execute, restart pc and reset all settings for the monitor (as always, dont trust strangers on the internet, especially not with a .exe file. for the techsavvy i could share .bin files instead)
