It’s so weird watching these videos and then looking at my behavior in the past and seeing that he described it perfectly. Or comparing abstract ideas without trying like when he said that dropping below baseline is what creates the drive to go out and get the thing you desired. It made me think about Kurt Cobain making music and that girl I’ve been chasing and that this chemical process has been with us since the dawn of time and is responsible for everything we’ve created. The rise and fall of civilizations. Godspeed.

This video came up as a suggestion...great explanation of dopamine peaks and valleys. So interesting how as you explained when you wanted sandwich, but it was the drop that makes you want to order it .. then the taste of sandwich determines the dopamine increase etc. And it is also the same for anything . So interesting thank you

Corresponding to the craving there will be a sensation in the body Actually sensation arising from the unconscious is causing the craving If u can watch the sensation with awareness that is impermanent craving will subside

So is it a dopamine spike or a dopamine trough that motivates you to pursue something?

Thank you so much for these! I had neuro Lyme disease for years, couldn’t walk after being an elite athlete - springboard diver, teammates went to the Olympics - and I didn’t feel like my dopamine was normal afterward, and I found research that it can be depleted wouldn’t be the right word, but the system can be off after Lyme disease, forget if reuptake or sending out - had ADHD to begin with - psychosis in my family & too with muscles and fibromyalgia. We are learning more! I wonder with long COVID, any major illness, like euthyroid sick syndrome believe the term for thyroid and chronic illness - if your body lowers to rest?

Curious too, as with hunger, hormones player role also interesting in wheat with Lapin. I think leptin right with women and hormones and dopamine. I’d be really curious if you did a video on that, if you don’t have one. Also, head trauma & dopamine and And ACTH/ norenephrine and dopamine.

It turns out that in the case of a negative experience, when the subsequent peak of dopamine is lower than the previous one, you need to stop in your desires, give time for the neural connections to be rebuilt and the negative experience to be forgotten, and then, after a time break, try to crave and pursuit it again.

My husband is cluster headache since 17 years old. He takes preventatives for this. I believe judging by his symptoms he has also ADHD. Has depression, had anxiety (this is still very close to the surffice). He can hardly get out of the bed, if he goes to supermarket he feels he is going to pass out. He can't do anything, all the symptoms are the same as dopamine deficiency. Is getting Concerta (similiar to Adderal in US) if he gets diagnosed with ADHD the only way? Is there possibility to fix this without this type of medication? He is exhausted, craves chocolate, coffee, kombucha, posting on Fb to get that little bit of dopamine. His body aches often like a flue. It seems always absolutely terrible during the months when before he had preventatives for his cluster headaches, he would have these headaches. He has this exhaustion all year round but peaking in the summer and in the winter. People around us don't understand and use the typical comments that he has to move etc. That itself feels very isolating. If he does move (doesn't have to be a lot) he is bedridden for at least 48 hr. He can't continue like this and has been thinking for a while to end it all. The reason why he hasn't done it yet, is because of me and his Mum. He is taking SSRi for depression and Rivotril for anxiety. Sometomes he gets a lift for moments when he laughs but crushes down soon after.

Everyday I crave to browse social media and yotube. Does that mean my dopamine level was below baseline and when I browse i get the dopamine hit ? How to change this behavior and do something useful like exercise or clean house or read something useful ?

He stated that a high peak will result in a dive below baseline, how deep that dive is depends on how high the peak was.
