Rare to see this skill level. Excellent flow. Having trained many years with Guru Inosanto and his instructors one gets used to seeing high quality practioners. Keep up the good work.

I find it so interesting to see a drill like Hubud used in the exact same sense that you might see Chi Sao used. Of course both are drills meant to develop sensitivity and flow but I had never seen this type of Hubud sparring before. Truly magnificent.

Thanks for your comments, different section is inspired by other sensivity drill (like dan chi sao or tui shou) but is always kali, because we use Kali concepts & Kali techniques.

I use to think the same until I began to study Pekiti Tersia Kali. And I come out of the EMBAS Wing Tzun school! The main purpose is to build sensitivity, increase muscle memory and reaction speed, and the most important aspect: increase mental focus. Martial arts is about the esoteric (developing the inner self). So try it out first. Even professional boxers learn similar parries, slips, jukes, fakes, and hand movements especially in the streetboxing camp of 52 Blocks.

j'aime bien le mélange entre tui shou(main collantes "tai chi") et wing chun ,plutot sympa.
@trbtek
@trbtek 13 жыл бұрын
@makaiev well it is similar but it is not. I've studied some wing chun and currently learning Kali. Because the guys drilling the hubad come from inosantos style (not aware of other backgrounds of Kali) i believe that some influence from jkd is in it. But I have noticed the hubad has some similar movements used in chi sao

Good stuff. Nice flow. What is that rolling technique being doing around 0:47 seconds? Is this strictly a Kali excercise? Are you incorporating any other energy drills?
@STUDENTOFARNIS
@STUDENTOFARNIS 17 жыл бұрын
Nicest flow Ive seen so far. Now I know your incorporating some chi sao, and tui shou but the interweinving is incredibly fast. I like the sensative drills to break out of the motion for a strike. Id love to see the hubud steps broken down more, do you have others with slower examples how to move?
@STUDENTOFARNIS

Great! Im familiar with hubuds movements, but when you start flowing gradually into chi sao, Im losing it by eye cause its too fast lol but definately awesome!

@lemhad Plusieurs séries vidéos sont consacrés au travail de Hubad (Ron Balicki, Rick Faye et d'autres). Mais je vous conseille de trouver un bon instructeur qui pourra vous faire sentir l'exercice ...

I see one or two ppl think it is passive and therefore 'useless' or learning to be passive. Instead of an FMA or Jun Fan approach how about a Wing Chun approach!: The first hand shape can be a Bong Sau, the Second Biu Sau followed by Pak Sau. Within WC there are already several hand drills that develop the tactile capability (Pak Da, Lap Da, Dan Chi and Surng Chi) I am in no doubt that Hubud is an excellent way to develop this. cont./...

not trying to compare here, but as I never trained kali seem it like this kinda looks like wing tchung (ving tsun)
@hkjkdsifu
@hkjkdsifu 15 жыл бұрын
1st move on the Hubud -Bong Sau, then it is Biu and then Pak (just tot give them some general Wing Chun terms. Note at the very first one it is deflection that can accompany simultaneous strike - so too with 2nd and 3rd. Note also the three moves can be done inside 0.1 - that is less than your average cross. Read closer. don't just refute! Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto didn't develop so many flow drills to such a high level for nothing!

At the 1st shape (Bong) we can already attack using Lap Sau, collapse Bong with Biu for instance With the second shape you can go straight to the eyes with a Snake style Biu to the eyes and the final shape can be Pak Da or Pak into Gum (pinning) and strike with other hand. For sensitivity it is brilliant. It is the FEEL that you should develop. Feel the techniques your and your partners. In Chi Sau the idea is the same. It develops awesome close quarter capability. :)
