한국 밴드 음악 신을 대표하며 20년이 넘는 기간 동안 총 7장의 정규 앨범을 발표한 허클베리핀. 인디 신 초기인 1998년에 발표된 [18일의 수요일]부터 [올랭피오의 별], [까만 타이거]까지 쉼 없이 록 음악의 새로운 스타일을 탐구해 온 허클베리핀은 리더 이기용이 제주에서의 4년간 머물며 구상한 7년 만의 새 앨범인 [오로라 피플]을 통해 이전과는 완전히 다른 스타일의 정적이며 깊은 내공의 사운드를 들려주었다. [오로라 피플] 이후 2022년에 발표한 7집 앨범 [The Light Of Rain]은 다시 서울로 돌아온 허클베리핀이 동시대 팝 사운드와 록 음악을 조화시키며 또 한 번 변화를 모색한 앨범이다.
데뷔 후 25년간 단 한 번도 멈추지 않았던 허클베리핀. 이번에 발표된 ‘The Riff Live Clip’은 2023년 여름에 촬영된 영상을 2회에 걸쳐 발표하는 라이브 앨범으로 특히 그들의 최근 10년간의 음악 여정을 보여주는 10곡을 수록하였다. [The Riff Part.1 (Live Clip)]에는 드라마 ‘악마판사’의 테마곡으로 인기를 모은 ‘Tempest’와 [오로라 피플]의 수록곡들인 ‘항해’, ‘누구인가’, ‘radio’부터 ‘숨 쉬러 나가다’까지 5곡이 공개된다. 참고로 이번 프로젝트의 제목 ‘The Riff’는 본 라이브 클립 영상의 일부가 삽입되는 허클베리핀을 다룬 단편 다큐멘터리의 제목이며 허클베리핀의 보컬 이소영이 직접 연출했다.
Huckleberryfinn, a band that has been representing the South Korean indie music scene, has released a total of seven full-length albums over more than two decades. Since their debut in 1998 with [Wednesday of the 18th], they have consistently explored new styles of rock music, with albums such as [Star of Olympio] and [Black Tiger]. The band, with leader Lee Ki-yong spending four years in Jeju island, unveiled a completely different style of calm and deep sound in their album [Aurora People] after a seven-year hiatus. In 2022, their seventh album [The Light Of Rain] showcased a blend of contemporary pop sound and rock, marking another transformation as they returned to Seoul.
Throughout the 25 years since their debut, Huckleberryfinn has never stopped. Their latest release, 'The Riff Live Clip', is a live album unveiling footage shot in the summer of 2023, spread over two parts. It encapsulates their musical journey of the past decade with 10 tracks. [The Riff Part.1 (Live Clip)] reveals five songs, including 'Tempest' which gained popularity as the theme song of the drama 'Devil Judge', as well as tracks from [Aurora People] such as 'Voyage', 'Who Is It', 'Radio', and 'Go Out to Breathe'. Notably, the title 'The Riff' is also the name of a short documentary about Huckleberryfinn, where parts of this live clip are inserted. Huckleberryfinn's vocalist, Lee So-young, personally directed this project
